(it goes back and forth on that one, but during my tests, it didn't) There was a poll on the official forums and it came out 58% to 42%, the slight majority saying that you couldn't shoot through the window. Their argument saying that it's a bug with the shield if you get a random headshot on someone in full defensive position with one. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Try using an AWP.... instead headshot everytime...!

you will NEVER have to pay to play mods like cs and ns, in the future these games will be running with steam , so you don't have to pay for steam.
don't get steam if your just curious about it, it's beta. only get it if you want to help test or if you want to help test cs 1.6
indeed steam is for broadband only...but that didn't stop me, i'm on dial up and it works fine for me <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Neg, not everytime. There's really no way to know unless Valve tells us. It could be a bug or the glass. Doesn't matter right now, I guess. Right now, you CAN penetrate it at times. So keep trying, or go around their back.

    Question:

So will it be required that steam is nessesary to play it's supported mods?

Also, will it ever be pay to play? (Shudders)

And, if steam is constantly updating it's users, then how will non-steam users be able to play with them?

And, will steam leave 56K'ers in the dust? (like me) Or will have to suffer a 600+ MB DL over the course of 1 week? (Shudders)

Gguess ive been lucky in the four weeks that ive been playing 1.6 in that every single shot that was bang in the middle of the shield has resulted in a headshot...

I wouldn't know about AWPs, since I rarely use them in the spirit of competition.
I do get shots through when aiming at the shield. I seldom purposefully aim at the window, though. When I have aimed purposefully at it, it's gotten through just as much as when I haven't. This supports the bug theory.

    I hope NS does not go "corporate" but I would readily buy a "NS retail" with colorfull maps, onos mouse pad and <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> figurines <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Wha? Who said anything about NS going corporate?

Dial up is a pinhole view on the internet. Hopefully broadband will become more widely available and cheaper. Wi-Fi in particular is looking promising. However, CS 1.6 will be released normally. And you can still use Steam with a slow connection, but you'll have long waits just like you were waiting for a normal patch to download. Fortunately, the beta leeches from your current CS files to make the wait shorter and not a full 400MB download. (no, it's not 600MB, but 400MB after you first download everything)

Flayra has talked about putting NS on Steam, but if that happens, it won't occur until 1.2 at the earliest. Steam is a great tool for both users and developers.

It's my belief that 56k users probably shouldn't be playing online FPS games in the first place and are very lucky if they can do so with a ping under 200. (net lag, not server lag)

I have 64kbps and can get ping about 50ms.

Yea, its your belief, but you think its easy to get broadband in those f*cking small lands? Yea, i can get broadband here, but i would pay MORE than i GET PAID in my work!!! Yea, those suckers want to introduce (yea, INTRODUCE, NOW, you hear good) ADSL here, but again it wont be anything cheap and you (err, not you but me or such stupid people in this stupid land) will still have to pay for TIME we spent on NET, can you understand this? We pay monthly AND for the TIME we are connected EVEN on ugly stupid 56k modem. Grr, aaargh, hate Telecom, HATE TELECOM, NUKE THEM!!!

Um, well, just wanted to say that all that Steam stuff stinks a bit, you understand, downloading 400 MB dont costs me just time, but money too. 400MB, mm, that will i download 14,2222... hours ideally (so in real, something about 16-17 hours), this download joke will cost me about 10$ (average payment here is 350$ (converted), and what remains after you pay all crap makes something bout 200$).

I would never pay for steam until they send me every update on CD with free shiping by DPD or such service (36 hours to deliver) <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

See, the problem here isn't Steam.. it's the frickin' broadband industry. I'm satisfied with my cable connection, but it still has problems. $45+ a month is just too much for broadband. Everybody knows this. Software development companies are aggravated by the slow technological growth in this industry... and of course users are too. There is some hope though. New technologies like broadband over power lines or my favorite, Wi-Fi, will offer competition, more availability, and potentially cheaper options. Wi-Fi looks particularly promising. Check this link out:

    <a href='http://www.techtv.com/news/internet/story/0,24195,3389078,00.html' target='_blank'>http://www.techtv.com/news/internet/story/...3389078,00.html</a>

I once had a 56k connection... but it's just not the same.

As for monthly cost + fees per time or MBs, this is just another method broadband companies are trying. It makes logical sense since the more MBs we transfer the more service of theirs were using, but community leaders are against this kind of payment method. In an ideal world, broadband will be free and you'll be able to connect from any location wirelessly. Wi-Fi is a step in the right direction towards this ideal.
