I was playing at ]DV[ Regiment server under my alias name. I was on a kill streak of 14/4 or something. I got slap a couple of times and was warned that I will get Banned for it. I thought he was only joking, then I went lerk. They couldn't stop me from spiking their team down, and sometimes I would hover for a bit then speed up my flyin' to bite marines' head to their death. Then I got a banned screen, for 1440 mins.
So anyway, I can't start a poll for some reason, I just wanna know how many of you have gotten ban for the same stupid reason (abusive admin). Now this is not new, I've got banned for owning Admin since Counter strike, and even Dragonmodz (Half life mod based on DBZ).

Anyways, I did run into admin abuse before, an admin threatend to kick my team because "we were holding up the game" by killing their armory.
What a jerk.
However, there is always the argument to be made that if they're paying for the server then they can what the heck they like on it, even be abusive. Vote with your feet.

Never been banned except for that one time I joined a server, played for literally a minute, and got banned. I thought I just got kicked, but banned? It was a random server anyway so I didn't give a hoot.
EDIT: Actually, I've seen some admins do some pretty dumb things. Good indicator to leave it, eh?
umm.... nsaf is a federation of server admins. there are a bunch of them. Which one was it? I seriously doubt you got banned for shooting a hive. I find it much more likely that you were running your mouth/fingers, cursing, or spamming voicecomm. However, since I don't know what name you play under, nor do I know the incident in question, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
I haven't been banned from a server yet, but I guess that's probably because I play the game and don't try to verbally abuse everyone that's on my team (of course, I'm still in anger management) and if I do I try to apologize.
As to the person who claims you're supposed to be 18 to purchase the game, I'm looking at my CD case for half-life game of the year edition, and I don't see a sticker on it that has any kind of parental advisory sticker on it. Please explain? Last time I checked, the PA stickers (which again, I don't see on this cd) were to prevent anyone younger than 17 (which is younger than 18) from buying the product. Finally, I'd like to know how being 18 or older makes someone suddenly a good player. I quote:

If you were banned from voogru, it certainly was NOT for nothing... Because our ban list is VERY small. I do NOT allow our admins to BAN people, except for 1 day. If a client deserves more then a one day ban, either voogru or myself do it; and it becomes perm.

I provide world class customer service at voogru's. Everyone gets what they pay for. If your a jerk, you get llamad; but you can still connect and fly around with lightning thru your arse, and slayed; over and over again. But for banning, happens almost NEVER.

You do realise, that not everyone on teh intarweb is American, right?....
Not that i'm even sure if the English version has an 18 rating or not, but our ratings go: 12, 15, 18.
And i'm sure all the other countries that HL is available in have their own rating systems.
BTW, only the admins can start polls, to stop stupid polls being put up every two seconds.
I have the budget uk version, it has an elspa 15+ thing on the back(bottom right), I never see it enforced.

Its so much easier to have one person on the team to blame. If you screw up as commander, then thats it, one person, you don't have a bunch of loose ends or crap like that, or what if's, its because you didn't command them to victory. This is even worse when no one else will command, what are you to do?

Yea, anyways, its pretty hard to be nice to people when the chemicals in your brain need outside help (aka meds) to be "right"
Couple months ago, I was gorging and my team asked me to stop building so they could go fade. ? Turns out they were some grossly ill informed admins asking. They flipped out big time when I disagreed. Kind of a pity, they had the best Austrialian (maybe, I dunno) accents. They were a pleasure to listen to except for what they were saying. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I don't Think I've been banned from anywhere. If I was I don't think I'd care, I just grab the server with the best ping. Every server I've tried going back to has been drastically different when I returned anyway. (10 reasonable clan folks practicing -> 1 grumpy ace + 9 complete newbies)

I have been guilty of misjudgement - confession here:-
I saw a lot of TK'ing going on on my server on evening (running tourny 1.03) so I joined and handed out a few warnings, not sure if it was accident or arsehole I waited but the same three names kept comming up, eventually I handed out a 30minute ban on all three. Afterwards I found out that one of the TK'ers was just acting in self defence and killing the tk'ers in an attempt to protect the marines structures. Sincerest appologies to this player, I never did see him again <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> can't say I blame him though.
I have also managed to ban myself on my server by accident when I was playing with some new mods! Fortunately I forgave myself and lifted th ban shortly afterwards. That particular mod is no longer running.
Another thing just because you and you fellow player may be 18 years old (and many HL players are in their early teens or younger) doesn't mean that there isnt an under 18 in the same room who can hear your abusive shouting. Being over 18 also is not an excuse for uncivil behaviour.
Did you punish yourself for abuse of power afterwards?

Well with NS we have to kick and ban a lot less than the llama's on a FF CS server the need still arises. with mouthy little kids (at least I hope they are not older and that immature)
If you are a player on a server that you don't own or pay for please try to have some respect and listen to any warnings from admins on the server - otherwise no bitching and complainging at the resulting admin abuse.
Lol I do get a chuckle from players who try to ruin the game for others, get warned, get warned again, llamaed, etc and after getting kicked complain at all the admin abuse when they completly ignore then admins. They go to our ban removal forum and complain 'Boozer kicked/banned me because I pwn his ****'
Anyways, here's some perspective for you: some servers are run by 12 year olds, or some as young as nine. If you can play NS, you can probably create a server (at least a sucky one). Can't expect too much from an admin who hasn't come even close to growing up yet, esp. when given power over the players and noone is overseeing the littl'un. Take a good look at the server's name before you join <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
Fortunately, most good servers someone actually pays for, and thus actually cares about. Yay for responsible admins!

Very interesting, King. You must admin/be a part of a different voogru server system than all the folks that do get banned/kicked/abused by admins. I'm one of those people who have played only <b>one</b> game on the server before being banned. I'd love to know what I was banned for, BTW.
I'm going to have to agree with Mulock here. There are a literal buttload of admins on voogru servers, many of who <i>will</i> abuse their admin powers just because they can, especially when you or voogru arent around.
As for your "world class customer service," maybe you and voogru should run some quality assurance checks on the server to police your own admins. Not to flame/insult/ruffle your feathers, but it's easy for you to say you have a great server, but when there are droves of people that talk about how abusive the admins are there, it just makes you wonder who is right...

Humm; who banned you? when? and what is your wonid. We *have* gotten rid of 2 admins lately for not following directions.. I'm curious? I looked at our ban list; and it's only got 38 wonid's in it...
Another thing to consider Tyron, tons of NS forum idiots (no offense) come to our server; JUST TO START trouble.. I don't ban them, but I do llama them; and have asked no admin to ban anyone for more then 1 day. As for your case; I'm hopeful you can shed some light as to your problem... if i was the admin on that server, i would have banned you as well. the admin did what he was supposed to.
It's my server, I own it, it runs on my bandwidth, it sits by my left knee.
If you want the play there, fine. If you want to abuse anyone, waste resources knowingly, **** me off in any way, generally be a gimp, do not expect to come back. Not ever.
I run the server as I want to, because it is mine.
If I am a bad admin, then I will lose players, regulars will leave and it'll only be a bunch of n00bs left at best. That hasn't happened so I must be doing something right.
If you want to **** about admins, have a think about whether they
a) own the server/pay for the server
b) have explicit permission from said person to kick/ban people at any time for any reason.
The only "admin abuse" is admins doing things that the server owner does not want.
I reserve the right to unbind all your keys, llama you, kick you, ban you permanently, slap, slay or do anything else I choose to you. Bear in mind I will ONLY EVER do these things if I decide you deserve it, I'm a reasonable guy with a short fuse.
Let the server usage/quality be the guide as to how good the server is/admins are.
