<div class="IPBDescription">Post ur WoL Pics! 56kers beware!</div> I was reading another thread and I got to thinking mebbe if we had a thread where we could see different ppl wol's we could learn different wol construction techniques.
I have a few different styles of wol's(to be posted later) but here is my basic one. The 2 oc's closer to the camera were placed as a defense against wol jumpers. If a jumper manages to get over the wol he will find himself trapped between a rock and a hard place.

I've done this a couple of times before, and I must say, it was insanely funny <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
The only way they could have used that lift is by grenading the "Tower of Lame", but they never have done.
And the posted pic is a bad idea, cuz you won't be able to walk past it yourself. An Onos shouldn't even look at it, for fear of getting stuck.
Now, to help prevent getting stuck, try this:
good: |X X| bad: | X X | Where, X is a chamber of some sort, and "|" is a wall.
|X X| | X X |
Notice that you can actually walk thru the good one, while not the bad. If you put a web or 2 between the forward towers, and above them, no marines will be able to just run through the hole. You can even stack on top of the towers if you want, because you will always know there there will be a way to get through.
i then stack OT's on top of the DT's. I may leave a hole for jetpaxers and put a sensory near it so they get parasited (but if sensory is up game is about over)
also, WOL are not worthless b/c of siege. the point is they buy time and they waste marine rez if aliens have it to spare. they either have to make a forward assault base or the comm has to keep complete situational awareness locked onto the marines attacking for health/ammo.
turr fac + turr fac upgrade + siege [opt.:+ turrets + phase + armory]
is a lot of rez to waste on just getting to the hive if the hive is all bottled up
plus the sieges now need LOS to fire
if HMG's, just wait for the reloads
The basic game of the kharaa's is to hold the marines so the gorges can get 3 hives easily. if the skulks fail and marines expend to a hive , then the gorges must not allow this to happen with other hives, and make so they cant be reached. a good hive is one with *multiple OC'c and DC's and sensories placed in strategic places* and a *final WoL at the end*. If one of the those two arent made, then
-either marines will take down a part of the WoL and fly over
-or they just fly over the OC's since there airs are free.
but anyway the most important thing is to block the MARINE entrance as well. but ALL ways must be block by the two defenses i mentioned since a single jetbo may escape and build another outpost accesible by phas gates. all cases must be prevented to have perfect defenses,

Yeah. If you build The top row of OCs on top of the DCs though, they all fire.
I had a funny game on caged where we started in generator. It was deadlocked with the marines holding sewer and vent for *ages*, with well over 10 turrets in each hive, backup TF, 2 sieges. One of those games where you feel like f4ing because you've been in that situation for like an hour, and the marines refuse to finish you off. After a while, I had an obscene amount of res, so I layed down 3 WoLs between each entrance to gen. Each one was 4 OCs wide, and had 8 DCs behind it (with the top row of OCs on top of the DCs). They were practically invulnerable to single siege cannons, particularly as I was at the area they attacked healing. The whole alien team was **** themselves laughing as the marines (in HA/HMG) slowly sieged down each WoL. At one point they'd got through two layers and were setting up on the third WoL down the long corridor by gen. I went round and rebuilt the other two WoLs (they'd recycled for res), and our skulks through excellent coordination and a lot of luck managed to take down the marines with a few waves. They had to do it all again <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->.

They are 75% smaller then the orginal due to size of the file.
EDIT: I would have maked it bigger, but I was having trouble near the top of the tower and then my server crashed. (It was a LAN game with cheats on)

1- I never make a wall because that's slow my teammates (or block then <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> )
2- I never stick OChaber and DChamber, because if a marine pass through the OC, they can shoot him (if they are DC the OC often shoot on the DC instead of the marine [Silly OC <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> ])
3- i always place webs in front of OC just to slow marines. but also place web behind the OC if a marine want to run, he was stoped <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
4- Place one more OC behind all just to prevent if marines can pass (!!!) he is shoot by the tower...

Framerate usually dips on machines without really fast hard drives when you take a ss...

I have a tendency to place offense chambers behind doorways marines will walk through, right around a corner, so that they run full tilt into 3 chambers, without being forewarned. I try to web nearby, so that it makes them stop right in front of the chambers.

The first set has three so marines encounter all three at once (as stated in a previous post). This also lets onii and fades pass quite easily, while not allowing marines to get through without a GL or siege. I also web above the chambers to prevent jetpacking through.
1) Underwater building is so wrong! Funny, but so wrong! If any of those towers killed anything, it'd be hilarious tho.
2) You play on Vadakill's server? That's where I usually see madguna <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
