But it's also true that there are some funny "newbie" scenarios - hell, we were ALL newbies at one point.
My first game of NS, EVER, was in NSPT8 - I spawned in as a marine, and was absolutely clueless. At that time, ammo repeatedly spawned at all the spawn points (a bug stemming from an attempted feature)... this, as far as I knew, was the only way to get more ammo. Someone told me to stop taking that and to use the Armory instead; unfortunately, the Armory was then using the turret factory model (placeholder), and I didn't know which was which... I was a mess. I played pure base defense because my computer was old, my framerate sucked, and my MP skills were rustier than... well, something really rusty. I was the definition of n00b, and I consider it a very amusing memory.
In my opinion, the worse instances of elitism are people who run around declaring that posts on these forums are worthless, SUYF and play the game, etc. The phrase is "<b>PLAY</b> the <b>GAME</b>" - so why not, in the spirit of playing and the spirit of a game, have a little FUN too?
I couldnt stop laughing when a CSer called me a camper for hiding in a corner as a skulk. The whole server came down on him telling him to go back to CS. I seriously had to stop playing for like 5 mins to stop laughing. Thats my fav type of idiot.
I can't believe that no one mentioned this. I hate it when marines constantly switch their weapons, play taunts, jump around and just make a lot of general noise while trying to sneak up on a hive.

Well thats not really a specific person being an idiot, its just irritating to try to decide who to give guns to, the one who listens to me but gets lost trying to leave spawn or the "L337" one who will run off and own there gorges and skulks while accomplishing nothing usefull.
in an effort to keep this funny and non-offending to the more civil NS players in this forum, why not talk about the n00b things we have done.
1) Commanding ns_bast, ns_nothing, ns_caged on Halloween without ever SEEING the map first person. i remember being frustrated cuz ppl wouldn't build the default RT in refinery in ns_bast (you know, the tricky one, where you have to go up a ladder, across a walkway, through a hallway, down a ladder again). for me, it was RIGHT THERE. haha. good lord, what a n00b i was (actually still am :S)
2) going gorge and building ST first, cuz i heard of cloaking in all my pre-reading, and REALLY wanted to try it.
3) tfacing EVERY RT, every, single, RT. LOL
4) never getting upgrades, even though we had like 500 rp, well, cuz i didn't know what upgrades were!
that's all i can think of right now. i'll post more n00b things i've done when they come to me.
me *spawns takes 1 clip of ammo and going into the phase
me *respawns again sees 4 marines still there etc etc*
all you need is 100 ammo for the lmg 50 in your gun and 2 spare clips and no need for pistol ammo that's only back up

The no.2 newbie action: Same map, little earlier, I see someone asking a gun, so I ask one as well, then I hear that they can only be given in base :S

Then a skulks comes and eats me, while the commander n00bs me once more.

Yes, there can be elitism. But it's also true that there are some funny "newbie" scenarios - hell, we were ALL newbies at one point.
My first game of NS, EVER, was in NSPT8 - I spawned in as a marine, and was absolutely clueless. At that time, ammo repeatedly spawned at all the spawn points (a bug stemming from an attempted feature)... this, as far as I knew, was the only way to get more ammo. Someone told me to stop taking that and to use the Armory instead; unfortunately, the Armory was then using the turret factory model (placeholder), and I didn't know which was which... I was a mess. I played pure base defense because my computer was old, my framerate sucked, and my MP skills were rustier than... well, something really rusty. I was the definition of n00b, and I consider it a very amusing memory.
In my opinion, the worse instances of elitism are people who run around declaring that posts on these forums are worthless, SUYF and play the game, etc. The phrase is "<b>PLAY</b> the <b>GAME</b>" - so why not, in the spirit of playing and the spirit of a game, have a little FUN too?

Well thats not really a specific person being an idiot, its just irritating to try to decide who to give guns to, the one who listens to me but gets lost trying to leave spawn or the "L337" one who will run off and own there gorges and skulks while accomplishing nothing usefull.
1) Commanding ns_bast, ns_nothing, ns_caged on Halloween without ever SEEING the map first person. i remember being frustrated cuz ppl wouldn't build the default RT in refinery in ns_bast (you know, the tricky one, where you have to go up a ladder, across a walkway, through a hallway, down a ladder again). for me, it was RIGHT THERE. haha. good lord, what a n00b i was (actually still am :S)
2) going gorge and building ST first, cuz i heard of cloaking in all my pre-reading, and REALLY wanted to try it.
3) tfacing EVERY RT, every, single, RT. LOL
4) never getting upgrades, even though we had like 500 rp, well, cuz i didn't know what upgrades were!
that's all i can think of right now. i'll post more n00b things i've done when they come to me.

HZ isn't a clan, it's a guild. There's a huge difference. We're a group of friends/admins who play on one server. And it isn't "American" either -- HZ is almost 1/2 Canadian despite the server being in the US. My server has all kinds of people that play, and I find your comment funny.
Shad is quite an experienced NS player -- and I doubt he thinks that "recycling makes you loose money".
It isn't a clan server, it's a public server. Anything else you want to bash about my server?
