As seen in the interactive map there are many biomes in the game, however on the right side of the Aurora the void is close to the ship which is a perfect place for a new biome. A biome that would be 1-2 entire squares away from the ship hidden in plain sight. Since the explosion on the Aurora was located at the front and left only 1-2 chunks of the Aurora would be in this 1-2 block area before the new area. This area would explain the alien moonpool and where their sub went to and could also reveal new materials and possibly go to the deep depths of the ocean. It could also add a storyline to the alien portals and what they were doing there or even if there from there. This new biome could also have legendary creatures frozen in time, The Artic Biome.

The "artic" biome isn't gonna be a thing until after 1.0, and even then it's not confirmed.

    Personal idea for (post-release) biome

    - Artic biome: first you meet iceberg, then you can't surface (unbreakable ice), then only tunnel for prawn. Creature lurking here are slow & big but only attack if you make to much noise, rare resources in the tunnel

    - CRATER/VOLCANO LAGOON (surface to -100): unique in that it's like a separate sea, you get in by jumping above its ridge (Prawn or Seamoth full speed!) or building new ships in. only small creature to live in

    - Natural Moonpool (down to -400) : a cave with air in, additionally it could have another "sea" or serve as a shortcut between biomes.

    - Swamp-labyrinth (-1 to -20): depth vary between "seamoth" and "dingy boat", visibility is extremely low but you'll find rare organic there. You can also put an abandoned base there.

    - Deep-crevasse (-200 to -900): This is a extremely steep crevasse (reaching down to lava) that you are encouraged to explore using a Cyclops, it have however little place to turn around and regular archway and platform to avoid at various altitude, you are encouraged to drop prawn on those to mine.

    - "high speed current" biomes (vary) , added between other biomes it has large area with high-speed current-highway which change with the time of the day, when there's an eclipse it get moving whirlpool.

    - Large-ROOT (100-200) : at the surface is a lot of tree with just enough space for a Cyclops to cross, below is a mesh of intertwined root which only have passage for Seamoth, the ground is a nightmare for Prawn. (full of small friendly creature that go too fast to be grabbed or scanned). The entire biome act as a barrier (for say, the swamp).
