Deconstruction?

Hi, when I start up the game everything is working fine... Except I can't deconstruct using "Q"? I haven't changed my settings or anything, it just doesn't work... Am I not using the right tools for the job? It's telling me I can deconstruct, but maybe I can't? I'm using a habitat builder.

Is your inventory full? Does the tool have power?

You may have trouble deconstructing certain items if built onto a window or hull reinforcement.

^^ This. I can't tell you how many times I'll go to assemble or disassemble something and either can't do it or it stops in the middle. Every single time when it happens during construction, I'll check my inventory to make sure I have enough items like 2-3 times before I finally notice the warning message saying I need to replace the power source. I wish the game designers would help old dumb guys like me with a huge flashing X in the middle of the screen that says, "I"M OUTTA POWER YOU DUMB @#$#"

My biggest headache with deconstruction has been the "attached object" conflict. Even though it doesn't seem like there's anything that can possibly be attached to whatever I'm trying to break down, the game often has a slightly different opinion. It's especially noisome when it comes to breaking down a stacked multipurpose room - you may need to clear the room below before it'll accept the deconstruct. (Usually not, but it happened to me once.)

Check and make sure there's nothing mounted to/attached to/stuck on/built on the piece you're trying to deconstruct.

While the attached object thing has occurred for me, the most frequent one has always been the depleted battery issue. Every time I get it I am completely flummoxed for the first few seconds until I manage to snag the standing-room-only wrist strap on the clue train. 8D

I suffer from the reverse of the above issues. When I go to build a base in the Grand Reef, I have to plan the layout of the base completely before I start putting appliances inside. For whatever reason, certain instances will prevent building a second-story MP Room on top of another MP Room, even if you have adequate space outside to place it. (The wireframe stays red even if should be green). This apparently happens because certain appliances on the first story will prevent the second story from being built, such as Wall Lockers(?) and a Fabricator(??) if they exist inside. To me it makes no sense that tiny appliances on the wall will block construction of a room that logically shouldn't affect anything otherwise...

I agree completely. It is so annoying not to be able to place one MP room on top of another--unless the bottom one is completely empty!! When I'm building my bases, I usually just build a five stack of MP rooms and then fill them from top to bottom as I need them just so I don't run into this problem.

I'm having sort of the same issue. I've built my beginning base, accidently put a T piece facing the wrong direction, so I try to deconstruct, the piece flashes like it's going to deconstruct, but then stops. Nothing is attached to it. The only things attached to any part of the base are on the other side. It tells me about the hull strength, but the number never increases or decreases. The Pictures show me trying from outside and inside, plus that my inventory has plenty of room, and my habitat builder has 99% battery.

    Build version is 47282.

Well apparently I'm not smart enough to get pictures to post. =/ Guess i'll do it this way.

Maybe I'm just blind. But looking at your inside/outside pictures, it seems like you have TWO base sections connected to the 'T' you are trying to deconstruct. I wouldn't expect the game to let you deconstruct that 'T' piece that appears to be in the middle of your base. But honestly I don't know. I've never tried.

I don't think you can get your base disconnected like that. Start deconstructing from one end all the way to that corridor
