Energy Management in ILZ/ALZ - or - how to take care of Lava Larva?

Hey there,
yesterday I entered the ILZ for the first time, full of joy of reaching this milestone and enjoying this new atmospheric exerience....
Then I started to realize this little suckers, swimming around my cyclops... and I remembered, that I saw an youtube vid, where these little one where mentioned...
After a short amount of time, I also realized the loss of energy...

Before I go in further, I want to be prepered - and thats the point, I want to know your experience.
Do you do some special preperations? Do you have an recharging base down there? Do you take loads of powercells with your cyclops?

I just get out and smack the suckers with my knife...
They really don't like that and either DIE or move on.

Lava Lizards like to eat them off your ship. And if you keep speeding you tend to run them over. What's left can be disposed with the Propulsion Cannon.
Bring material for a power station (corridor, hatch, thermal plant, cell charger) if you're worried.

Right now the energy concept still needs lots of polishing.

Put ion cells into the Cyclops and run with 3000 energy together with a cell recharger and additional cells to replace. That allows you to spend days inside the Lava zone even with power draining. You don't even need a base or do most inside your thermal recharged Prawn.

But the devs already tune energy from time to time. Who knows?

Generally I'd love it if the devs would allow the Lava Larvas to breach glass or hull in general, so you need a welder to fix damage to prevent the Cyclops or Prawn from sinking or flooding. And you could no longer ignore them, which you can do right now.

Yeah, I still have to find the ion cells first :)
I would love this idea with repairing my cyclops... right now it is like you can't even get a scratch into this ship...

Scratch, no. Total destruction, sure. It's kind of a pass/fail situation. ;)

It's also worth noting that while your Cyclops is practically immortal, it's very hard on nearby objects. I accidentally tapped my seabase in the safe shallows and, well, you'd think it got hit by an airstrike. Took me five minutes to patch all the damage. Barely a tap, too.

Just use the prawn prop cannon. it's fun to launch the lava larvae at other lava larvae like pool. Try to get as many in a chain reaction of hits - my record is 1.

Keep in mind right now that the Lava Larva's hit boxes are a little bit broken, you hit them and it doesn't do anything, but propulsion cannon works fine.

You can hit them with the knife, you just have to back up a bit farther than usual.
I was doing it just fine while playing last evening.
Two hits, drives it off and three kills it.
