Lack of space isn't valid enough reason fo you ? ^^
I do that because of lack of space obviously and I'm certainly not the only one with a small ssd and with other games and apps already eating all the available space on it.
Personally I'd just save the save game folder to, say, my desktop uninstall SN from the HDD and reinstall it on the SSD. It's not like it take hours to install.

Not the purpose of the idea I shared. And for moving an entire game steam now have an option for that without the need to redownload everything.
No, just the smallest common SSDs are ~120GB , aren't they? - I suppose some are smaller, especially the old ones, though.
Doesn't matter.
If you have spare space on sdd: move the entire game.
Otherwise you'll certainly be happy to use the method I shared if you didn't knew about it.
No need to discuss for ages about whether or not it is frequent to lack room on sdd.
But you don't need to re-download everything. Have a spare disk drive? Back up your Steam games onto that.
He's saying his SSD is full and he doesn't want to move anything off of it. However, I would certainly recommend @neel that you open up WinDirStat and see if you find any surprises there (can't hurt to check, right?)
Be sure windirsat cleanup was done already, nothing more could be removed
I have a 128GB SSD, AC alone takes 40GB (and I won't move that one from ssd) and have several heavy apps beside (picture & video editing, 3D modeling).
128GB is certainly very comon size for those who have only 1 for OS. A few games can be enough to fill it completely.
The symbolic link is very easy, and the goal of improving SN perfomance is reached, hence why I share the method.

for 40h the performance are very well. Now I have very big lags, with frezzes round about 30sseconds and crushes with now error messages.
Its legs everywhere.
In Areas where i never be go before (500m and deeper) and also where i was before (home base, and other areas, but not inside my home)
My specs are where well so i don't now the reason for this lags and frezzes. My fps are round about 100 and since the lags began i have only round about 20 till 75
I'm seeing freezes too. I'm running it on a mac mini. I have multiple computers and have tried it on my Win7 pc also, but it seemed to run better on the mac. I'm playing a new save started after the Coffee & Castles update. The graphics will freeze while the sound effects and music continue to play. It can freeze for over 5 minutes at which time I lose patience and ssh in from my phone and "kill -int" the process. It also crashes sometimes. Sometimes it just crashes outright with no warning and at other times it freezes for a while and then the sound stops and then it crashes with 5 to 10 seconds.
The game is a lot of fun while it plays nicely, but it's getting quite frustrating. Hopefully there will be a patch soon.
Hi everyone,
I have a HUGE constant drop of fps near seamoth and cyclops (2-4 fps) with both my PC with High specs (gtx960m and gtx 1070 and I5 processors for both) on the same savedata. When i go far of my submarines i got fps drops who freeze the game for severals seconds to 2-3fps, then back to normal. I always had little fps drops since i played the game but now it's just unplayable... I followed your instructions to clean cache, using your automated cleaning cache command, but nothing change, i still have these inplayable fps drops.
here is the lagging savedata with the "output_log.txt file" and "dxdiag.txt " included if u want to take a look
Try waiting for the next update to hit, then clear cache, see if that helps. (Next update has some performance fixes in it). I'll also try to remember to take a look at the save file over the weekend and see if I spot anything.
Thank you,
Maybe my cyclops is carrying too much things ^^'. if i let the game running for 15/20 min the fps return to normal but only for 1-2 min when i start moving around, then it return to constant 2-3 fps. I tried on the worst quality and resolution (u can't even read text) and it still lagging ...
I hope the update come soon , I look forward to explore the precursor's ruins ,
@lolokiller83 Have a look through here as well, most of it (solar panels on Cyclops) doesn't pertain any more, but IIRC there was something said about a locker causing issues? Worth a read-through anyways.

the lags are fixed in the last update good job devs !!!
Since last update (yesterday) I have some problems:
From time to time i have 2 fps! and i cannot do something to fix this. The only think which is working is to reboot the game.
The next thing ist, that from time to time the whole texture and all objects are lost, so i seen only a black screen, my arms and all signals
Edit:
I had cleaned the cache folders, no i have stabil 4 fps all time -.-

What's AC? (curious)

Anybody have an idea for fixing this problem?
Specs:
i7-3820 4600Mhz
Asus GTX 1060 6G Strix OC 2176Mhz
64gb DDR3 1600Mhz
SSD 512GB

It runs well again, but it is like cheating
is there any workaround by programmers for fixing the problem?
They are working on it. Until they fix it, when you get performance issues or crashing, use cache clearing.
