Terrible service, I'm sorry for anyone stuck with AOL.
If AOL does not want to hold it's users accountable for violations of the TOS that AOL 'requires' their users to abide by, then GamesNET has no choice but to completely ban the offending network.
Well, I can't say I'm really surprised about this though, but the good folks who use that horrible ISP will get siderailed like Gazaar.
chanserv: I don't want to be a part of your sick fantasies!
Would it not be better to just move the ns channel to irc.enterthegame.net or one of the many other irc servers. If you feel so strongly about this issue? Rather then trying to subvert the authority of the owners and thoose who run gamesnet? I'm sure you wouldent be to impressed if ppl started offering proxy connects to thoose banned from your forum. And knowing gamesnet such actions would just result in the channel account being deleted and yourselves g-lined. And to tell the truth, I would not blame them one bit.

Shame that there's some legit folks out there getting punished by this, but (callous and simplistic as this may sound) I guess that's the risk for running with such a gawd-awful, substandard ISP. Generally I don't agree with gamesnet about most of the things they do, but in this case, if half of what they said about AOL is true, I don't blame them one bit for their response.
...Besides, I kinda like seeing monstrous, out of control companies like AOL get the finger every once in awhile...
I had a client who used AOL dial-up, and then wanted to switch to cable. When he found out that Roadrunner didn't offer parental controls, he switched to AOL "broadband".

Doe's he know you can get software for Parental control??
Obviously not........

Does it offer features such as limiting the time that each user can be online? I'm not talking about things such as blocking certain IPs and sites. That can done easily. Yeah, he uses software that restricts access to certain sites, but AOL allows the master user to set limits for each subordinate user, such as how long they can be online, etc.
Anyway, I was just giving an example. Parents who don't trust their kids or need a way to control their online activity use AOL.

Best IM program ever, BTW.
About AOL: if you got banned, get another ISP. Don't wait for AOL to change their ways. If they acted one way before (which got them banned) there is nothing stopping them from doing it again. In fact, AOL is such a huge company they might just leave everyone banned. If you get a new ISP, it'll be better for you anyway. NOT ONLY THAT, but you will have the honor of saying "I do not support a hegemonic corporation."
I understand and agree with this, but some people have little to no control over their ISP. Not everyone who frequents this forum is an adult, and gets to make decisions like that. AOL, while the worst of ISPs, is cheap, and available at places where no other ISP is. Some parents, as previously discussed, like the control that they get about time spent online, and what options are available to their children.
I can see the reasons why GamesNET decided as they did, and respect that I, myself, might have made the same decision. While a readily available chat medium for thousands upon thousands of users, GamesNET is still privately owned, and gets to make the decisions on what happens to THEIR servers.
AOL wouldnt care if to them a few people are banned from some network that none of their employees have heard of. I suggest that if you want to use IRC ever again, switch to something else.
Enterthegame.net is much more poorly run than gamesnet, and a hell of a lot less popular.
Quakenet.net has also g-lined all of AOL for reasons similar to Gamesnet's.
That pretty much covers the 2 other large gaming IRC networks.
Moving to a new network is pretty much out of the question.
And people who connect via a BNC will not be considered g-line evading.
