Sea Dog Robot Companion

I thought it would be cool to have a AI companion in the form of a small, sea glide sized, robot drone. It would require a power cell and have a small storage compartment (very small, maybe 5 slots or so...) and would be helpful in retrieving ores, food sources (aka peepers etc), and distract aggressive creatures while exploring. It could give you those few seconds needed to escape a reaper attack (at the cost of your drone), be warped away by warpers, and named/customized. It would dock up to the Cyclops, or a docking station attached to the outside of your base of operation. Materials gathered by the drone could be stored in waterproof lockers making them very useful.

I don't know if this has been discussed already, but I'll come up with a design/drawing and see what people think.

I'm curious to see what other's have for idea's on how it looks, abilites, etc... Not too complicated, but simple and productive.

Thanks!

I reckon it could be useful but perhaps as a more lategame utility since it reduces threat and calls for less exploration (tedious backtracking later but fun earlier). I think having a light would be especially useful when exploring some of the deeper zones. If it's going to be able to do all that then it'd probably run on a power cell and maybe be gated by benzene (maybe too early) or kyanite/nickel (maybe too late)?

I'm imagining something small..maybe half the size of your lifepod or smaller, with some sort of aerodynamics? Maybe a big single light in the middle of the front. I feel like it'd have to be able to manoeuvre and turn fairly quickly to keep up with the player and I'm not sure how to incorporate that into the design...

Good Concept though! Looking forward to seeing it develop.

That would be an awesome interaction between the Cutefish and Seadog though! Some playful actions between the two would be neat. :)
