Lag issue when entering Grand Reef

RazlioRazlio Norway Join Date: 2017-01-08 Member: 226389Members
Ok, so I made the P.R.A.W.N Suit and i decided to use it to walk to the grand reef. When i got about 200-300 Meters away from the floating island before the grand reef, i started to experience extreme lag (1 FPS) and Subnautica usually runs smooth 60 FPS+

The problem is that I have deleted the files needed in CellCache to make it "disappear", but nope. Still lags just as much. I've tried everything in the troubleshooting guide aswell. My drivers are all up to date.

I've tried killing myself ingame, but if i do that, Subnautica crashes. Subnautica is unplayable because of this lag issue I'm having. Can someone help me fix it?

pls help
-Razlio

I don't get lag but in the wreck the door doesn't open when i use the laser cutter. The chunk comes out but the door is still intact, please fix developers!

I am getting terrible in the PRAWN. It doesn't happen as soon as I get in the PRAWN but will suddenly occur after about 30 minutes of playing. When I exit the game back to the start screen (not the exit to desktop option) I get the splash screen come up with "LOADING" and that's as far as it gets. It stays like that. I have to Ctrl Alt Del and end task to get out of this loop. These lags on this precursor stable build is ruining the game for me. I am not prepared to start mucking around with the useless "delete the cache" option that keeps getting thrown about as the "miracle cure all" for everything. I know it's an alpha ga,me and I accept there will be bugs, even crippling ones, every so often, but please devs fix it :(

Well, then, enjoy your wait until the devs fix the problem?

Your wreck is duplicating / triplicating / or other. If you keep cutting, you'll reach all of them. Clearing your cache should fix this, see the first line of my sig ▼ down there.

Yep. I can manage that. I will still continue playing SN but will relegate it to the bottom of the pile. There is more to life than Subnautica, though I think some here will disagree with that. :D

Saying that, though the lag and breaks in this game get on my t*ts, I can't help coming back to it time after time. Shows what a brilliant game (with fantastic potential) the devs have created here.

I think it is this bug:
    http://forums.unknownworlds.com/discussion/147508/bug-wrecks-stacking-in-the-same-location-version-42313#latest

Short: After saving, wrecks and vines spawn multiple times in the same location. When changing biome this can crash your game.
This is also a main reason for fps drops.

You can try the experimental build on Steam.

So you're saying that switching to experimental build is the fix? Btw thanks for taking your time to help a fellow player

Switching to experimental has fixed the crashes for me but I still get the occasional lag if I am travelling fast, such as in the sea moth or the sea glide. Sometimes the lag can freeze the screen for 2-3 seconds. However, there is at least one player I have seen on here who is still experiencing crashes in experimental. My advice is to at least try the experimental for yourself. It's easy to install, and if you decide you want to go back to stable build you can simply uncheck the experimental box and the game automatically reverts back to the latest stable build.

I've tried switching to experimental mode and nothing changed except for beacon icons. Lag is still there (1FPS). I am seriously frustrated about this lag issue. It renders my game unplayable. Do i need to start a new game to finally play Subnautica on 60FPS+ again? I'm starting to think that my problem is a serious bug and is pretty much unfixable. Any more help? BTW thank you so much for taking the time to help me.

@Razlio - you already cleared your cache by deleting the CellsCache and CompiledOctreesCache from the correct saved game slot?

\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Subnautica\SNAppData\SavedGames\slot00xx where xx is the slot number that's being used by your saved game.

    Yes

I deleted the CellsCache and i got the f**k away from the grand reef and the lag stopped. I'm too scared to go to the Grand Reef now as I lagged my tits off when I tried entering it which was the reason of this post in the first place.

Thank you all for your help <3
