Will upgrading my RAM help to run the game better?

Hello, I'm new to Subnautica and I already insanely love it, but the issue is that when I got to a certain point in the gameplay where I breed fish, build multiple bases, drive vehicles etc. and the game became unplayable as it frequently crashes and freeze all the time.
The thing is I am using a 4GB RAM, do you think upgrading to a 16GB one would help to run the game smoothly as I only have a 2 core processor? My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570.
Thank you very much in advance and I'm sorry for my lacking knowledge of computers.

Ahem... HEY @0x6A7232! YOUR ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED!
My work here is done.
Also, please share your system specs. If you want, you can put your current parts list into PCPartPicker and share that (see the big section below), makes it a bit easier all around.
Things that would help Subnautica:
An SSD
A better video card
More RAM
If you don't have the money for all 3, you'll have to pick and choose.
There's also this to consider: Are you planning on upgrading your computer soon? If so, just bide your time and kill all the birds with one stone. PCPartPicker is your best and most wonderful friend (Go check it out!). You can 'build' your computer before it's built (and get compatibility warnings if something isn't going to play nice with something else, e.g., this graphics card might not fit in that case), get price alerts, see price history, view others' completed builds, and, last but not least, share your proposed builds with others in an extremely easy manner, and they, in turn, can look at your build, make some changes, and share that build back, without affecting your build (it becomes a separate build of its own with a different url).
For great examples, click on any of their build guides in the build guide section.
I'll copy a few of them over (which is as easy as clicking on the forum share button (the [ BB ] button) and copy+pasting). I'll show you what I'm currently using at the end.
Each build tier has like 10 different variations of build, and you can easily swap parts and make the build your own by clicking the "Customize this part list" button on any build you see (for example, I would use an EVGA power supply, an AMD RX 480 graphics card, G.Skill Ripjaws V RAM, and if I wanted to spend a little extra for a bit more performance from my SSD, a Samsung 850 EVO SSD, even though the Mushkin ECO3 is a solid choice (I own both the ECO3 and the EVO)).

Here's my current build (graphics card I made the mistake of trusting someone on eBay who said it just had a bad BIOS flash {I know how to fix that} and it's toast {numbskull tried to put new thermal paste on and thought it was a peanut butter sandwich}, so I'm using the build in HD 530 for now)

The terrain in this game can (currently) change, usually due to explosions or building bases. Over time these changes can reduce framerates and induce crashes/freezes like you mentioned you were having. It sounds like a likely cause as you mentioned you've built multiple bases which is usually around the time these problems occur for me, and I have a decent rig.
The freezes and crashes from playing the game so much is normal at the moment. Game can't seem to handle itself! Although on the new experimental build, i haven't received 1 crash... yet!
If that's accurate for Subnautica RAM usage, you might want to just get an SSD if you can only afford one upgrade. Install your OS and only a few games on it, and use your normal hard drive for everything else. (That's what I do).
