Hey there, I'm new to Subnautica (a sub scrub?) so, hopefully I'm posting this correctly!
I only have about 18 hrs in the game, but the past couple days were issue free.

Today though, I've crashed three times. I was just out collecting quartz/scrap metal. I ride out with the seamoth, then hop out and zoom around with the seaglide. Pick up some stuff. Zoom along...suddenly, the game lags horribly, then locks up completely (with audio still going) for about 10 - 15 seconds and then crashes. Up pops a message giving the location of a folder with today's date followed by a number. I would have taken screen shots, but it never works when the lags hits.

Pastebin seems to have a small size limit, so I hope Google Drive is ok. I'm hoping that sharing all three will help show some consistency in what's wrong. Not my area of expertise, so I'm just sharing what was in the indicated folder.

The game usually lags slightly when loading new areas. That's what I thought it was at first, then it got worse, fast, right before it crashed.

I have exactly the same issues and I'm looking for a solution too! My game crashes like after 10 minutes of playing. For me subnautica is unplayable if this doesn't get fixed :'(

▼ Upload your saved game folders if you want, then clear your cache (my sig down there has the relevant instructions).

Hopefully I did this right. I DID add all three crash folders, as I didn't know if one was more relevant than another. The latest crash folder is 095140, if you want to ignore the others.

Thanks for the info. I hope it helps somehow. If you think any other info would help, let me know.

I feel your pain man. I try to play, but I'm scared to do much. After the last crash, I mostly just messed around in base and saved more often. This seems to have started happening after a built a bigger base (as I said, I'm new, so it was pretty small before). Have you had a larger base for a while? I'm wondering if I did something crazy I don't realize, with the base. lol

    Oh, two things I forgot.

I just realized as I pressed post, that the instructions for the slot000 file said to post it THERE, not in this thread. My bad 0x6A7232. I will post it there if need be, but I don't want to double up on it, unless you tell me to. Sorry about that.

Also, new Nvidia driver just came out. I'll see what happens with the game now! Maybe it's driver issues? No idea.

UPDATE: It seems to have worked (clearing cache Dir's)! I followed the directions along with the video, as he did them and I've played for an hour with zero problems.

It also fixed a bug that I planned on searching the forums for, or posting about, where the crash fish where leaving nothing behind in their plant pods. First day I played, I got four or five. Next day I couldn't get anything. I tried the whole day to get something out of them whenever I spotted one and couldn't, but it's back now!

This fix worked before I updated the Nvidia driver. And it's still working after. So it wasn't that.

Thank you very much for the tips. :) And sorry if this crash post turned out to be repetitive.

You can leave it here, devs usually check crash report threads. Grab the latest update that just hit Steam. (Dec 15th Precursor update)
