Nutrient mist

I wonder why so many khammanders use mist to crow structures. Wiki say it only make things mature faster (and lifeform evolving). Dunno what it says in-game.

So please confirm this, because there could be some changes and wiki is outdated. I Know it heals harvester nowadays, kind of. But why throw mist on freshly, unbuild hive?

for structures, it helps them reach maturity faster. i think they have more hp when mature. whips also only gain the bile attack once mature as well, really the only time i am concerned about maturity if I'm planning a whip rush. i don't know if all this is still true, tbh, but i think so. i dont think it does much for the hive? not sure anymore.

Can confirm. Dropped structures start with little health and maturity. Using mist makes them mature (-> gain hp) faster, but not grow faster.

A few patches ago there were a couple changes to nutrient mist.
    1) It was allowed anywhere even off infestation.
    2) Nutrient mist stops harvesters from losing HP if it does not have infestation.

The exact rules might be different. My memory is not perfect.

I don't think it only affects harvesters. It's just used on them most of the time.

    Basicly all of the above.
The added health alone (indirectly by maturing it faster, since maturity adds health), made myst already a good thing to use.
Then uwe decided to buff it into the sky.. and well.. why shouldnt we use it.

So nutrient mist dont grow/build things faster, just faster maturing. Thats what i thought. Had to ask because things could have changed.

I usually mist new (built) hives and gorge tunnels for more health. About 2 mist for gorge tunnel mature instant and something like 4 or 5 to hive mature.

It also "feeds" structures, preventing them from taking off-infestation damage, for a short time.

If I'm desperate to get a hive built quickly and have shift hive, I will enzyme the gorges building it repeatedly. Helps more than nutrient mist imo.

You absolutely need a shift for that, though, or they will run out of energy quickly.

Or just do both.. both myst and enzyme, yesyes.. both is good.

I question whether or not enzyme and or nutrient misting an early hive is really worth the tres spent. It probably depends on the situation but I don't have a clear answer in my mind.

As mist increases the maturity and therefore the hp. If an unbuilt hive is misted, which will increase its total hp, does that mean the gorges/drifter building it have that extra hp to until the hive is fully built?

I'm never sure about this point so I try to wait until after the hive is built before misting - only if hive is in danger from being attacked

No, maturity should not effect hive grown % in a negative way.
What maturity does do is add valuable hp to a structure if marines are about to put bullets in it.

I only ever mist a hive if the marines show aggression towards that hive while its being built.

if you see marines prepping to come into the hive room while its building, mist that bad boy, if not, then there is no reason to at all, it doesn't speed up the building process in any way.

That's what I would have thought but people in game have said differently. Also when looking at the hp of a hive while it's being misted shows the hive total hp increasing but not the actual hp with it. Sure if it doesn't have a negative effect the total hp and the actual hp should increase at the same rate. -Disclaimer, I've not checked recently this but I'm pretty sure this was the case previously. Would be nice to get some official clarification on this point.

I presume the same mechanics will apply to a harvester

The mechanics apply to all structures.

The hive also gains a static HP boost (aside from maturity) when misted! No idea how much exactly though...

I think it's about 560 effective HP for a hive.
