Fast travel between established bases

How about adding a fast travel feature to the game where you can build a fast travel station in each of the established bases and from there travel to all bases that have such a fast travel station? Sort of a hyperloop but without the tubes...

I mean, the planet is huge and one might want to travel a lot. Given the speed of the character and also the vehicles, it really takes a lot of time to travel between different sites. While this can be quite relaxing, it will get really "boring" after some time, especially when you need to go to that site and fast...

Along with this it would be nice to be able to tell the larger of the two vehicles to auto pilot to a different site, which also needs to have a fast travel station, so that you can move with that vehicle to a different place, establish a station including the fast travel station and then build another one of said vehicle especially for that station, while telling the other to auto pilot to an existing other station.

I'm not sure I would like this as a feature. Part of the fun of the game is the travel. You never know what you will find along the way from one base to the next...

The world is not that big. You can get across the entire map very quickly in the Seamoth.

But then I hate and refuse to use fast travel in games. Why invent a beautiful world then give players the means to miss it all? Pointless.

Although, one point OP has, an autopilot feature would be nice. Send the Seamoth home or to a beacon without you, or jump in and let it take you while you lean back.

Maybe the planet is but we play on a fairly miniscule map. It can feel big in its full 3 dimensions but 2 dimensionally we are in a tiny square of ocean. You can zip from one side of the map to the other in a seamoth extremely quickly.

There are dev / trello docs toying with the idea of teleportation between bases.

Personally I don't hate the idea of teleporters per se but especially given how small the map already is I don't see any need for it. I always have one main base and a few satellite bases which are really just emergency recharging stations.

I do not think teleportation is what this game needs since it is partly about exploration and resource gathering. For endgame traveling, I think seamoth lets you travel pretty fast already.

I just simply swim. Even with basic fins you do get to where you are going. I used to make a beeline to the 'moth, but in recent builds I have waited longer. My pace has slowed, so I am more deliberate in where I go, and what I do.

Avoid reaper territory, and stick to surface and that gets one to most places. In the grand scheme it really doesn't take long at all.

I do like the send home, or to a beacon idea. Auto pilot with me in it not so much.

only fast travel I'd support fort this is building tube from a to b that carries user in it rather than walk along, but that tech should be really late game if ever added

Yeah this is as far as I would probably support. An actual hyperloop for player transportation, not easily available.

I'd of created a faster, much shallower diving, less manoeuvrable submarine for this purpose.

Wasn't there talk about a warper gate to hop between well powered Seabases?

the image under is a Screeny taken by @RevivedShadow inside the new aurora. What the hell this is can be opened to discussion, personally i think it looks alot like the teleport rings in Stargate SG1

I could see it being relatively useful for getting from an ILZ base to a surface base real quick, since navigating the Cyclops to and from the surface gets tedious real quick. Other than that though, it doesn't really seem like it's all that important with the current map size.

Yep, they planned it. Might still be too.

I would really like fast travel. I seem to have a hard time getting into the ilz and back so a teleport station so i can zip to there from my regular base would be a really nice feature.
