That's understandable, I mean if I would make a game or anything else and worked a long time on it and put in a lot of effort for it to succeed, seeing someone else enjoy and have fun from what you did and creat is somthing that would make yourself realy happy and belive in what you do so it make sense that they would watch videos of others playing there game, just because they want to see how others react to there game.
Yes, I would say that most, or all, of the UWE devs have watched Markiplier's vids of Subnautica. Speaking for myself I have watched every single episode he's done so far.
Is there a certain set of criteria that a Let's Player has to meet in order to get their very own Hull Plate? Not sure about IGP and everynightxRIOT having their own Hull Plate, but if they do have one it is not listed on Subnautica wiki and they certainly have about 100 Subnautica videos compared to Markiplier and Jacksepticeye having about 20 Subnautica videos.

Agreed, seems weird to me that Markiplier only has to make a few Subnautica videos to get a hull plate. Riot's put a ton of effort into his Subnautica videos and it'd be nice to see him getting recognition for it. Phaota and Sl1pg8r have also produced some great content.

No offence intended to Markiplier or his fans.
Mark got a huge Audience, don`t get me wrong, others have too. But his popularity is quite high, even if I talk against him in this thread I like his vids. And since it`s good for the devs having "big let`s players" show their games they might "assist" them in the one or other way sometimes.

And how do you feel about them? I know they are great advertisement for the game but I feel like he is, or at least was, not doing Subnautica justice. From the videos I watched it just seemed like he was a babbling fool who was also being fed misinformation and telling his viewers that, also he wasn't the most productive. Unlike jack who had a cyclops and base by like the third episode. That's just my opinion on the series though, like I said it's great to see Subnautica reaching his viewers though. I personally can't wait for Jack to play again, he was the one who truly got me into you wonderful game!

So I had no idea who markipliers was, found the subnautica vids and wished he would shut up after the first few minutes. I personally find him annoying, BUT his stuff gave me the look I needed to go buy Subnautica...
Maybe I'm too old to really appreciate shrill meaningless rambling...Yeah, it's probably just me...

Haha yeah, i felt the same when i listen him the first time. But after a while i liked his *special* annoying way of telling annoying things. And now i realy enjoy it sometimes (get i crazy on my old days? ) Ahhh

Just what the Kids want today. xD He`s at its best when things don`t go as he wants to and enrages, rest is quite standard, except he`s quite charming.

He's definitely excitable. And he's better than that potty mouth Irish or Scottish guy, about whom I care so little I don't remember the name...
The thing you really miss in subnautica watching some guy who jabbers merrily while you watch then play is the sound. Sound in subnautica is a huge part of what makes the game for me.
Still, credit where it's due. He gave me the look I needed to get over the "I don't need yet another game" and spend the $.

I don't mind that so much, I find him funny.
The 3 things that bug me in Subanutica videos are:
1) Guys that think they're experts, but are giving out wrong information.
2) A video of the player in the corner of the game, but the person playing isn't funny in the slightest! If you're gonna show yourself playing, at least be funny and mug for the camera (or something, JEEZ!). Otherwise, why do I need to see YOU, when I can just watch the game?
3) And kids... if I start a Subnautica video and it's a kid playing, I'm out.

Obraxis, it's different strokes for different folks...it's great that they're out there giving you guys some well deserved exposure to their huge audiences...for me, I'd rather play the game myself than watch someone else play. That's just me.

Huh...so...watching a guy have an emotional train wreck meltdown paying Mario...was kind of funny...Maybe it's similar to the reason people watch NASCAR or hockey...

Yeah, that video was interesting. Especially, the video right after it. People mostly watch Markiplier for his reactions. The only case of a minor meltdown in Subnautica was his neverending search for Crash Powder. Most of it is wow look at that instead of I am going to throw my shoe at my computer due to immense rage.
+1 for Sl1pg8r. He produces a lot of great content and just started a new season of Subnautica a couple weeks ago. He is the reason why I was exposed to the game and is the reason why I'm going to buy it on Xbox when it hits early access.
Not really. Just tells me you don`t like a challenge. Oh and that you`re one of the younger gens that never experienced really hard games with almost no saves etc.
And your insistence that challenge entails tedious and annoying mechanics which can literally be done by a braindead monkey tells me youre full of it, you have way too much free time, or you have no ability to plan or pay attention.
You can outcirclestrafe any predator in this game. It is not made to be hardcore difficult and if it is, it falls way short.
They liked his videos sometimes on thier channel so yeah they do notice them sometimes but now that he is cheating they will probably dislike them instead
The game doesnt do an amazing job of pacing in the late game in that it doesnt put essential starter materials (titanium, quartz) into later game zones. So in mid/later game player has to stop mid exploration to go back to low level zones and repeat repetitive activties in order to continue with mid/high level content.
Wish quartz nodules gave more stacks of quartz as the player finds the nodes at deeper depths

That`s what`s Marki is about yoma, lets players are there like grains in the sand. Thing is if you find one interesting enough to entertain you.
And that he doesn`t cut stuff that doesn`t work like he wanted is a thing I really like. Being tired of all the "perfection shows and videos"... .
I don't think I've ever watched him angry. Maybe when I have nothing else to do...
gimme a sec I`ll edit one of his rages in here.
Edit: My favourite: at 10mins it`s getting funny. xD
As for the other guy, jepseptic i think it is. Sometimes does something with Mark, but I don`t like him that much since he tends to shout.
You do not know true rage until you see his octodad playthrough...
We need an Octopus race in Subnautica. With those exact same controls. It could even be its own difficult level. We have Hardcore mode, then we have Octodad mode. The benefit is that we would not need to worry about Oxygen in that mode.

He has started a new game where he specifically mentioned no cheating. So you could just ignore the past few episodes.

But definitly worth watching again
