Creature Creator - Player Created Content

I have this dream that one day (soon) after the release of Subnautica, Unknownworlds will release a 'Creature Creator' allowing us to design our own creatures, that other players can download into their game!

This would provide us with a never ending stream of new content to discover and study!

I imagine the Creature Creator could be similar to the way the game ‘Spore’ did it, in its creature stages. And would allow for some really interesting creations. If you've no idea what I mean, do a quick search on youtube!

Creature parts could be collected by studying lifeforms genetics in aquariums and through exploration like Blueprints. This would then allow you to use that creature part in our own creations.

The AI for the creatures could be determined by a number of tickbox selections. We would be able to spend a set number of points making selections. Limitations that would create diversity and stop people making uber-creatures.

If a creature was introduced into your game that you didn’t like, there could be an option to remove it by studying its genetics to either create a toxin specific to it. Or, we could create a lifeform with the sole purpose of eating the one we don’t like!

Anyway, just a few random ideas I thought would be cool! If you like my ideas, or have comments to add, please post and let the Devs know this is something you would like too!

    Totally, Spore was fun!

Even if this had a limited creator(in comparison) I think it would be good as for me the main pull in the game is discovering something new and exciting!

Taking nothing away from the awesome stuff the Devs have created, allowing player created content in this way would be a huge bonus to the longevity of the game and for me personally, its in some ways more enjoyable seeing what players create.

I think creating creatures and biomes could be mods that could be added on to the game.

Have they confirmed we will be able to mod the game? That would be great!

However, creating objects with animations such as creatures, from scratch, is hard work and requires RL skills and software! Hence my suggestion :)

Unknown Worlds were/are very supportive of modders with Natural Selection 2, so I imagine they'll let people do so once the game is finished.

They could do what Ark: Survival Evolved is doing and make a mod contest!

How about ingame you can get a tool which is super rare which can allow you to genetically modify a creature and you can import genetic codes that it converts but it mainly works like a 3d model, texture program yet each model would take a long time because you have to design the nerves, bones and scales with filters so it would be a later part of the game the behaver code would tell it how to move mainly by you making muscles and telling it when to move them like in modes : swim, attack, hurt, die, tame(optional), and more. The developers can choose the machanics its too hard to explain in chat I would need to show you.
