Can a non-gaming laptop run Subnautica?

I was wondering, will my laptop run Subnautica. I'm sorry but I don't know the specs, but it runs Minecraft around 35-50 fps. Can someone tell me, because I don't want to buy a game just to realize my laptop can't run it. ;)

Specs really are needed to determine this absolutely... my guess would be no, though. :/

Mine definitely can't, which is a shame. But hey, yours might. You'll need to share the specs to be able to know.

I doubt it if you can only run minecraft at 30-50FPS, considering the minimum specs for minecraft only require intel integrated. Subnautica isn't insanely taxing, but it does require a bit of heft. If you can't remember your specs, you can always look at the bottom of a laptop and usually get the model number from there. That model number can at least give a decent idea of the specs and a decent idea of if it will run at all.

If you're running Windows 7, you can just right click start button, go to file explorer, right click computer (above where your disc drives are listed). It will tell you your os, processor, ram, etc.

I'm using a Lenovo thinkpad, and it runs perfectly (if that helps)

I have a Dell Inspiron 14 with a quad core i5-3337U processor and Intel HD Graphics 4000. Not really the best combo, as lately it has been freezing quite a lot. I think it's the GPU...which isn't very good.

The freezing issue is weird though...it's fine when I'm in the water, but as soon as I enter my base or the Cyclops, it freaks out and my fps drops and it tends to freeze. Is that weird?

I have a crapbook air, and with a lot of tuning I can run it pretty smoothly.

Define "free download". Last time I checked Subnautica isn't free.

Considering that there is no free download of Subnautica I'm not surprised that your hacked or patched and/or questionably stable copy is lagging a ton. But, I could be wrong.

it isn't. there was a website flying around claiming to be the official site, and a lot of people fell for it.

My laptop with a quad-core pentium (specify the model later), 4 GB of RAM and no grahics card can't run it. So if your's is close to that no.

Luckily I can still run SN at full HD and max. graphics with my desktop. It has an slightly overclocked (by the manufacturer, I couldn't afford burning my GPU) GTX 970 from Gigabyte and 16 GB of RAM. That's way above "recommended". However then the bottleneck of my computer, the CPU, comes along. I use an i5-4440. It's above "minimum" but way below "recommended". Actually I think that to hit the "recommended" spec I'd need a Haswell-i7 (the i5-4440 is Haswell aswell (pun not intended), which is the "recommended" architechture, but a lower-end one) at least. I most likely won't buy one tho; Haswell (or ix-4xxx) is WAY outdated. We're currently in the Kaby Lake architechture (ix-7xxx), three generations never. Whenever I update (which is when I can afford to), I'll need more than just the CPU; the socket and chipsets have changed so I'll need a new M/B. Most of the new motherboards support only DDR4 RAM which is pretty darn expensive and I'll need that too.

Well, it used to run SN at 20 fps, but after the latest patch I get 80 fps

Edit: I just realized this was over two years old.. it was on the first page because necromancy

Since the thread necro has already been taken care of, I'll add this:

You could drive a Winnebago on a Formula One track, too, but why would you?

Dev's have made too nice of a game to attempt to run it on something that won't do it justice.
