One-shot Knife

So I already used the in-game feedback mechanism for this, but has anyone else had this problem?

I'm playing the game and crafted my knife and it was working fine until it finally ran out of durability and broke against a stalker. (Before you criticize, it was one of 3 or 4 swimming around a wreck and it would not stop trying to bite my Seamoth.) Okay, no biggie. I head back to a nearby survival outpost and craft a new one. I get back to the wreck and swing my knife at the stalker that will not leave me in peace to cut my way into the wreck and snap, it breaks. Two more knives later and I've had to report the bug, save, quit and hope that the bug is fixed sometime soon.

in my current game ive had something similar happen to me. im not quite sure if the knife breaks or it is the stalker that steals it away from me. at any rate, i was trying to cut the stalker that was , hum, stalking me relentlessly. as soon as the stalker had a chunk of my leg in its mouth the knife that was in my hands dissapeared.

went back to my lifepod and crafted a new knife. this knife was brand new. i went back to the creepvine forest to gather more screepvine seeds and another stalker notice me. the same story happens yet again. as soon as the stalker bites me the knife in my hands dissapear.

not sure if its a new behavior for the stalker to steal whats in your hand when it bites you or if its a bug occuring here.

The stalkers is stealing the knife. After the 2nd knife disappeared I saw it fall to the sea floor. I tried 5 times same thing stalker goes for the knife and disarms you.

I vote for the removal of the knife from fabricator tools list. So we can be totally defenseless. ( sarcasm off )

Well, I just played a little more and did some testing. I'm finding no evidence that the stalker is stealing the knife in that the knife simply disappears.

Out of the tests I did 1 of the 5 times I saw the knife fall to the sea floor and I did try and pick it up as the stalker was munching me to death. The other 4 times happened so fast I was unable to tell, I went back looking for the knife and did not find them, its like it just sank into the sandy bottom.

I lost a knife the other day too. I dropped it, along with some other objects from my inventory, onto the sea bed in the SafeShallows. When I turned to look at what I had dropped, I saw them all there - with the exception of the knife. It had just vanished. (Current stable version)

Play tested some more with 8 knifes. Found 2 stalkers to play test with pulled out knife. I can swing in the air ok until the stalkers come into striking range and knife disappears. I was in a sandy area where I could look down and see if the knife was any where to be found, with no lock.

    build 31471

Thoughts on this is, if this is Not a Bug then this is messed up for me.

Hmm. Well, I find this more than a little annoying, but I suppose that it actually makes the stasis rifle something that I'll use now. Before this, I was generally able to avoid most of the predators out there so I'll just have to get used to this new (to me) mechanic before I pass judgement.

Hi there. There was a bug with the stalkers stealing knives in the experimental version, which has now been fixed.

When reporting on the forums, please in your topic title or body of topic give more information so we can investigate issues better: http://forums.unknownworlds.com/discussion/137003/how-to-report-gameplay-bugs

Especially if you're running the experimental version or not  Thanks!

Ah, so that's why the creatures will be attacking our bases: the undersea life is attacking us on behalf of the p-ssed off Stalkers, the swordfish-like creatures having told them all that we ran out of 'shiny'!

"No, Gus, you can't have my Builder; I need it to build my ba--"

    "Grrrrrr--!"

"Okay, okay, you can have it, just don't bi--"

    *CHOMP!*

    "Dah, god, my leg, arrrgh--!"

I wonder if this is a sign of thinks to come with Stalkers have a small random chance to disarm the player.
Would make thinks interesting, not knowing if at any moment an encounter could lead to disarming.
