Creatures and Exploration Ideas/Suggestions

Huge Creatures

I think you should focus on making creatures bigger and bigger, at least 300 meters in diameter and length. The reason why I'm suggesting this idea is because when I first saw the Reaper Leviathan, I only saw it's tail, just the end of it's tail, it really sparked my imagination, what could that thing be? Just how big is it? It's the terrifying thought of what else lurks out there in the deep seas. I have some suggested creature designs and ideas that you could take inspiration from and put together terrifying enormous beasts of the deeps or enormous gentle giants ten times the size of a reefback. You can see the pictures below:

For the terrifying predators and super behemoths of the ocean, these are some examples of what would be incredible to see

See what I mean? Huge mysterious abstract creatures that look terrifying, I think I would get a heart attack if I ever encountered something like this while I was in my Cyclops Submarine.

And here, you can see how this creature would just be lurking around at 5,000 meters and below inside enormous caves or something and then you stumble across this enormous thing while you're excavating some rocks... that'd be an intense game experience.

Again, an example of what I think would be an amazing idea, creating a huge cave system deep down in the empty vast black ocean, where you could design creatures like this and the one above to be lurking around inside them, but of course a player would never be able to fight off something of this magnitude, so I propose stealth technology, stuff that blurs you from their senses and camouflages you in the darkness while you get what you need from the caves or explore them.

I also have this really exciting idea of where if you don't want a player getting out of the map or going somewhere that obviously has nothing there for them to see, you could implement a super huge creature so big that you can only see it's mouth from the deeps underneath you, it'll create a warning growl if you're in the area, if you keep going, the growls will get louder until eventually if you ignore all the warnings, you could create a terrifying cutscene where huge jaws just leap out of the darkness and engulfs your submarine and disappears. This would be so amazing though, you'd not only solve the problem of players exiting the map but you'd also spark imagination in players where they think they're seen it all, and then that happens, it really makes it more exciting.

Now you've got the soft, gentle giants, like a reefback.

It's quite difficult to find pictures of docile, non threatening but humongous herbivores just floating around minding their business, but here is one such example that you could take inspiration from in your future designs, it's supposed to be a complete gas giant apparently. But if you ever go for the idea of 200+ meter beasts just floating around, then you could also entertain the thought of allowing us to construct seabases on the backs of such creatures? Maybe a little out of the realm of reality but this is an alien planet and anything is possible if you have enough imagination!

Not exactly "non-threatening" looking but it's not an "aggressive I want to eat you and spit you out" type looking creature, but I think you might like the idea of having a creature that can act as an "island" as you can see in the picture, it's back is completely exposed to the surface of the sea, and it's just hovering around with lots of fish following it, these are the things that you could try and use for your designs.

You've got a lot of space to put such enormous creatures in, and I would personally try to help you in any way I can, even if it's just a little bit, because I don't think this game is only focused on survival, but it's focused on exploring the unknown and finding out more about the world inside the game and that's why I've made this post, the current creatures in the game are terrifying and amazing at the same time, but I think if you went bigger, at least 300+ meters long creatures, and added co-op to it... well damn, you've got an insane survival game dude!

Love this game, man :)

Also if anybody wants to add their own ideas and suggestions then feel free to do so, I hope the developers can read this and start taking some ideas from it to include in the game too :)

    That's cool CaDragon1. I like that idea!
I had an idea for a rock mimic, it would be carried along by floaters like the other rocks, but when something swam by it would lash out with claws or tentacles and try to capture it for consumption.
I wouldn't mind seeing mimic creatures in Subnautica.

Well, I was thinking of something like this. It's nowhere near as visually stunning as the rest of these, but it should get my point across.

However, it shouldn't be in the biome you spawn in, seeing as that is more of a tutorial biome with few actively dangerous creatures. I would suggest maybe in a deeper area, with lots of sand and relatively empty space.

    holy crap I want this.
    AND I WANT IT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.
    Good idea.
Could its coral plates do something too?

    Drew this thing.
It was an idea submitted by this guy and I think was harmless just for coolness and poop.

What about a biome that is actually part of a large organism? Fleshy walls, maybe eyes that quietly watch you as you explore and even smaller parasitic creatures that are hostile to you? I'm pretty much inspired by that one dungeon from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

There should be random sizes of the same kind of animals. Just realistic like some stalker are a bit smaller and others or bigger. This shouldn't be hard to add, just randomly scale animals and would make such a big difference.

I was thinking the plates could be fins or something, 'cause it still needs to get around. However, any other ideas would be totally welcome.
