Okay, so as most of us know, there is are abandoned bases right? Well that slightly promotes the fact that other mining vessels have as well. So the game should start out with you reading an article on your PDA about other ships in your solar system that have crashed, so then it says 1 hour later and you go to an observation deck. Then you see parts of the ship fly off. That's when you start to run to the escape pod bay. thus starting the story.

    why do u think that those vessel was mining? They just fly near this planet and was shooted down by same strange energy puls like an Aurora. Those ship has a crash landing and after all rest of its crew 'trash' their ship to their bases components. Read massage from Torgaljin carefully.
    I think we deal here with some sort of big 'PlasmaThrowing Bug' like in "Starship troopers" movie

    Or it could be a simple gravity anomaly, the crew should be glad they aren't dealing with a quasar.

    How long you play in Subnautica? In previous game' INTRO we all heard about 'strange energy puls' as a reason of Aurora fall, but not gravity anomaly or a quasar
