Question for devs

Hello Subnautica creators! Is there anyway I can choose not to update Subnautica (other than keeping Steam offline)?

For now what I'm doing is keeping a double partition, one where I update and one where I don't (not the most convenient of situations), because I'm afraid of one day updating only to find that the console option to set speed to 0.75 will have disappeared, making the game unplayable for me on high settings. Also the slower feeling feels more 'aquatic' to me.

Is there no option to refuse updates indefinitely even while going online?

Every Steam game has this option:

If you set it to the second option it will ask you, instead of automatically patching it. Just make sure to go into offline mode every time you boot up Subnautica. Otherwise it will patch before actually launching the game AFAIK

This is how Steamworks works I think, not a specific UWE thing :)

You can copy Subnautica's steam folder anywhere on your PC. This copy will not get updated. You will however, still need Steam to be running. You can then keep an older version around (and launch it manually) and also keep the Steam version of Subnautica up to date.

Excellent, thank you Obraxis! So I can keep a copy and access it with Steam offline (or do I just launch it with the exe file and not from Steam?)

I wasn't sure how to start a new forum thread, so i wanted to ask an important question here: "will there be multiplayer implemented in the future?" it would be very hard and expensive to implement I'm sure, and while this game is an EXCELLENT single player game with much to do and explore, one can't help but feel rather lonesome. in a way, i could compare it to skyrim; skyrim was one of the greatest single player games of all time. just see the purchases within a year of release. but if they had made the game multiplayer, or even co-op? the amount of players that bought the game wouldve tripled. there is nothing better than exploring a vast world with a close friend, laughing as they freak out when they see a reaper leviathan coming towards them, or holding each other in comfort as your sub decends into the abyss. honestly, this game is amazing, awe inspiring, and so elegantly beautiful. maybe not full scale multiplayer, but surely the ability of LAN or co-op with 1-4 players could be possible? i love this game so much, and i would never be able to stop playing it if i could explore it with my friends. theres just something about having someone there to experience the terror, beauty, and overall majesty of such a massive game that would make it so much more precious. you have something unique here that you've made, something no one has done before. if we could enjoy this game with our friends, i assure you there would be nothing to tear us away from our dorito and mountain dew covered desks.

"will there be multiplayer implemented in the future?"

No. Nothing is planned in that regard.
