Run out of things to do...

Normally at this stage iv only had the game a few days but within those few days I have dumped an obscene amount of gameplay in, I wake at 10am play till about 2am the next morning take breaks for food , dinner and drinks , so even though iv only had the game a handful of days I have probably clocked up about a few weeks worth of normal player game time.

My Question is what are you all doing in game at the moment, I have mapped out and explored every biome had a number of attempt's at killing the leviathan (no clue what its HP is and it tends to run when its getting near death) I'v built a base built around each of the games sources of power, one is near a healthy source of uranium for nuclear power, another is on a thermal and the third is on the islands with solar, each of them were fairly well established and setup to the point that with the tech in game at the moment there isn't much I can add without it being there as just an empty room(I like everything to be functional and have a purpose), I also have satellite bases with moonpools around in key locations to make those quick jaunts for my favorite fish or resource an easy task.

Yes the game is early access which is why I'm not worried, normally at this point I would be playing multiplayer where player interaction fills in a lot of the missing game mechanics and functionality but we don't have that at the moment.

I'v also collected all the fish we can catch to try out the breading thing although I think only spades work at the moment.

I'v also got a collection of the working plant's which is only a few at the moment.

Basically I play survival and need some missions to perform to keep me in game.

so what do you all do in game ?

PS. can you have more than one save game ?

You pretty much summed it all my friend. This game is heavily centered on exploration and base-building right now. As far as the story we dont know much. You havent mentioned exploring the aurora crash site and/or the wreckage thats something you could do if you havent already, altho at this point it wouldnt add much gameplay minutes/hours to your experience since this doesnt take long to accomplish heh ...

In other words either do like me and keep building/exploring or wait till theres more content released :p Also as far a gamesaves you can only have one per game right now it seems.

I tried this today but there are some built in controller commands that are causing my guy to always look straight up and only about 3 of my programmed keys to work. From what I can see the graphics are NICE in experimental.

graphics are very nice plus you get to test all the new cool stuff the devs plans to implement soon in the stable version! sadly for me, theres something about the experimental version that my computer cant take and makes my game crash about 2 mins in so cant play it :'(

I'v been playing exp, also done the crash site and wreckage, I'v even circled the map in void to see if there was anything hidden but didn't find anything sadly.

The map is beautiful but it's just far to small I actually covered all of it on my first day, the subsequent days after that were just finding little caves here or there which I explored but since there wasn't anything resource wise in there to gather going back made no sense at all, I think that's something I do not enjoy about the game it's far to focused on exploration, we all love exploring but with the map so small and the game so focused on it at the moment once you have explored it, that's it job done, it's not like you can make your brain unsee that cool cave or map feature so you can explore it again.

We need lots more crafting, lots more resources, we need reasons to goto these amazing looking places to get things that can only be found there, exploration is cool but as i'v pointed out it doesn't last very long at all, creating things, crafting and resource gather are actions and tasks that you can prolong far longer and adding new recipies and things to make, new base structures to play with and new resources to hunt down is easier to work on that expanding the map to the size it would need to be if the games going to remain mainly about the exploration.

This is actually why I waited so long to purchase the game. I finally caved in and got it during the Steam holiday sales. I've had it on my wishlist for a long time.

I knew I was going to love it and gobble up the content at a rapid rate since I'm already an underwater game fan (and in real life as a diver!) - so there's a hazard in opting in to a game that's in early access / alpha / developmental phases ... you may not have enough to keep you busy for long term play yet.

Personally I took my time, explored very slowly ... figured things out, observed fish, mapped out the areas I liked the best and managed to get a good 25 hours of enjoyable exploration and building into one save-game in regular build. Now I am playing experimental build and doing some play with the new features/content for fun and ecological testing. ;)

Though I have not seen a future expectations type thread of what the end-goal size for the map might be by the developers, I'm sure they intend to expand it more throughout development. You may need to shelf the game for awhile and come back later when new content, more crafting and more exploration goals (story, upgrades, treasure) are added to the game.

It in all honesty cant get much bigger it's all hand done and with that comes the constraint of time, effort and money which will all limit the size it gets to, I think thats why a lot of people were hoping for something procedural, with regard to the map my idea was having the core map hand made but then procedural fill the void then we get the best of both worlds, we get a massive vast world to play in while still retaining the core map where the story will take place.

I got up today planning to go into creative and plan out some base builds but I'm now in a bit of a bad mood because that bug that makes the world pink has returned and im not longer able to play it like that, God I hope they undo what they changed and fix it soon.

Even though UWE hasn't announced anything, I'm hoping for 3rd party content added via mods sometime around the game leaving EA.

Altho i do agree that the current game content is limited to about 20hrs (lil more or less depending on each person) im personally never going to shelf it since i love to pick up the exploration back from time to time. That being said this game has been in Early Access for a year now, im kind of wondering how long they exactly plan to have this game remain in this state ..... does anyone know roughly how long does a game remain in Early Access state before being fully complete? i know its diff from games to games but there must be an average

well you said a year, alpha can last between 6 months to a year and most beta's last a few months so if I had to guess I would say the full release of this game is probably penned it at around summer 2017 possibly later, but with all game development those time tables do not mean much as things tend to be very fluid.

but yeah Summer 2017 would be my guess.
