What is build 271?

Ok I'm mainly posting this to avoid any upcoming confusion.

Let's start with posting the email ns2 server admins received a hours ago
Hi all!

We're releasing a small patch called 271 today - this is in preparation for our future plans for NS2 and will not contain bug fixes or major changes, but will be required by servers and players to upgrade to.

Time of release: Today (Thursday) 2PM PST, 10PM GMT, 11PM CET, 9AM EST.

The next 'big' patch will be 272 and is currently on-schedule to be released within the next few weeks, we will of course keep you informed as we get closer to finalizing it.

Thanks for continuing to run NS2 servers! :)

So there will be a update today. But this build 271 is just released due to "internal needs".

Meaning nothing has really changed compared to build 270 beside the build number.

So until now every time anyone here talked about 271 we really talked about 272 ;) Same applies for the cdt trello board etc.

    They must be engine changes needed for the PT workshop mod/mods.

    there is nothing of note for a change log, it was literally a couple lines of code added. 272 will make up for it though :open_mouth:

    Looking over the trello board..I see a lot of talk about increasing preformance/ignoring things that aren't needed for both client and server.

    Could we be seeing the mythical performance improvements!?!?

    I just had gun jams to the point where I couldn't play the game. It happened the last patch, but not this bad....

    Better performance is still the one thing that is preventing me from truly enjoying this game. Though I suppose it could be considered a testament to my love for this game that I have nearly 600 hours of gametime, despite the relatively poor performance. Really appreciate you guys still trying to improve it!

    I've been out of the loop for a while, but just out of curiosity. Are any balance of gameplay changes slated? Granted the game's in a pretty good place right now balance wise, there's always some room for improvement.

    I don't think we'll see any more balance/gameplay changes any time soon. (at least not for vanilla, compmod might still change things up) The focus seems to be mainly on polish/bugfixing/performance with preparations for more customization options in the future.
