@Howser was so kind to teach me a little bit about how to get custom models into Spark, with collision and everything. I had some models from last year laying around to test it as well. Here is a pretty basic scene with 3 custom props. The floor doesn't have a proper specular texture yet so it doesn't shine like it should, but other than that I'm pretty happy with the results here. Even if it's repetitive/boring.
I have a couple more models in progress, but this does absolutely not take priority in anything I do. At least not until after new years when I start a my final uni project. Mineral comes first for now. Maybe my final project will be an alternate version of mineral with mostly custom materials and models. We'll see how much time I get.

Yeah Flat, you're right. At least the yellow needs to go. The blue in itself works well imo. These props will probably never be used in a map, except maybe the floor. If anything it will probably be a map for combat after new years. It all depends on what else may happen in my studies!

Ok! I was a bit bored just now and didn't want to start working on my animation assignment. So I decided to give the floor a proper specular map and change the color of the horrible yellow lights just to check. Also played around with light placement. which is way overdone for such a small space btw, to see what I could do with it. Here's the result, even though it's an editor screenshot.
everybody on my favorite server wished a "ns2_wurst" so in my first trys i built a prototype^^

i guess joseppe, you had some good time, since it's so calming to combine all those verts and faces to something nice and so satisfing to have reached a new benchmark. i hope you come back some day joseppe you'r map is awsome.
MasterG nice one hopefully such work can bring new moods intoo the game. its clean and own style fits with other stiles in ns2 i like those props. do you plan on sharing them or even make more would like to see it ingame.

Okay, im just gonna mess up the thread badly with some RL photos for some background info. A while ago i started importing some models for a machinima for a Type O Negative tribute sorta thing. Lately I have thought of completing it but its been so long since Ive been meddling with the SDK that I need to re-learn it and just posting a screencap meanwhile !
Those of you who are not metalheads and unfamilliar with this band, they were a goth metal band from Brooklyn who produced some of the most amazing music known to man. The themes are mostly about life, death, romance and tragedy, and if you are even just a wee bit into rock and metal, give the albums Bloody Kisses and October Rust a listen. Sadly the lead singer and primus motor Peter Steele died in 2010 so there wont be any more music from Type O
I looked at some images from live shows as reference and I think i got it about right. The flags and totalitarian vibes are from what i guess is the "Vinnland"-theme, some sort of gothic 1984/fallout/WW3-ish alternate universe where some of the songs are from (at least how I interperate it).
One of the songs of their albums are even called "The Glorious Liberation of The Peoples Technocratic Republic of Vinnland by The Combined Forces Of The United Territories of Europa", a victory march that begins with jets passing overhead and soldiers and tanks going by, ending with the sound of helicopters as the song fades over to the next one, in which the theme is werewolves, silver bullets and full moons and such...
Anyway, I started rigging a small stage and importing some models to do some seconds of animation, but real life came in the way so here is what Ive got so far. Obviously cloth is not reflective, but I had some issues disabling reflections

I'm tempted to make a smaller size ns2 map, at least grey boxing it out as I thought of a few unique gameplay concepts - but is it worthwhile? does anyone play ns2 still?
EDIT: also I would be using it as an excuse to learn blender, 3DSMAX or Maya - would that be possible?
I'm still puzzled as to whether I am able to fix the strange bugs that sometimes appear and sometimes don't appear after scaling. Plus the "outdoors" area still looks shit imo
If anyone can do it, can you scale up an ns2 map by the following amount: 32 inches -> 1 meter
I need it for my tremns2 mod, in particular for the mod madness tournement, or else I'll have to just use biodome or veil because veil is assymetric and biodome is somewhat large for ns2. The reason for the scaling is because my mod is based off a game that runs on the quake 3 engine and 32 units is considered 1 meter (also besides, half life 1 ran on 32 units = 1 meter as well, pretty sure so even just getting an ns_veil port / remake in full scale is fine)
My hardwhere isn't good enough to do anything like that
