Joining the development effort

Hi,
I started playing NS2 last summer (build 250), and have been playing it on and off since then. I was wondering if there's any way for me to help the development effort (that isn't playtesting?). Is the Lua source available somewhere or do I have to be part of the CDT in order to help development?

My ingame name tag is Raza, I hope some of you recognize me!

You already have the lua source, it's in your game directory ;)

You have access to everything in your game directory, except access to the engine. If you would like to know what to work on maybe someone from the CDT can point you in the right direction.

ok - thanks guys! I'll take a look at the source when I get back.

also one last question - is there a bug list or a todo list somewhere? like a repo with outstanding issues?

You kind of have complete changeable access to the source, for client sided code you need to make an addon, unless they've updated it since.

It's a bit of a pain to mod the core-game tbh. Getting your changes accepted will probably be difficult. As it'd likely involve balancing and tweaking of formulas. As that's what most do.

Contact @Narfwak @Decoy @Obraxis @ExplosifBe‌ or @WasabiOne‌ and they might be able to set you up as a playtester where you can have access to Mantis bug tracker where we have a (very big) list of bug reports
