Make beacon less forgiving?

Basically this.

Every well coordinated rush gets beaten down by a cheap beacon.
So go the other bases you say? Well marines are there 10 seconds later due to phase gates.

Make it 20 res, or disable PG's for some time. It's a cheap teleport at the moment, rather than a last resort kind of thing.

Getting the marines to beacon becomes less and less effective the later you wait in the game. If you can force an early beacon, marines should lose most of their res on the map. If you wait till marines have 3 bases and a triangle gate network... well yeah, it becomes less detrimental to the marine team. You can still set up attacks assuming the marines will beacon though. Leave an onos and skulk back at your base and have the rest of the team go force a beacon. Then send your onos/skulk combo to the nearest phase gate. They should be able to kill it before the marines recover from said beacon.

It was already nerfed when they removed the ability to respawn the entire team.

God forbid capitalising on a beacon would have you think and plan ahead.

lol, remember when beacon took you to the obs instead of the nearest chair... Build a ninja obs in the enemy base, "their beaconing!! kill there res, wait what? our hive just died?"

It's most definitely a last resort thing :P
If you need to beacon, it means you fucked up and your team overextended (i.e. nobody was near a phase gate, and nobody guarding base). It costs 10 res and every alien on the map (should) know it's time to haul ass to a phase gate and grind it down before the marines come pouring back through.

A well-coordinated beacon would be one where you have aliens already beating the marines back into a particular phase gate, ready to take it down. It's less effective at completely nullifying a marine push on a single location.

@pointypun beacons cost res (alot of res). We can wear down a marine team by forcing multiple beacons (we did this last night on a game where we lost 3-4 hives). Marines have repair and shipping, and most of map and tech, we sent 3 skulks to base via hub all the time (took coordination), and purely killed res and make sure they couldn't rebuild it back. 2-3 beacons later we had most of the map because they had no res to drop meds! So cheap beacons aren't cheap, it just takes time to win.

    No, just no.

The idea of counter-attacking is to make them beacon so they get away from your base. Also, without beacons taking out the power would be incredibly op.
