Subnautica is an underwater open world exploration game. Cool setting, never seen this before.
But what will we actually do in there?
This thread is for all your ideas about features we might see!
Now, this is still very vague, but I think we are going to see submarines
Disclaimer: The only thing this thread is good for is getting a wrong impression about subnautica and hyping yourself :P
edit: I though I might collect some facts from the twitter handle, to get a basis for your speculations...
edit2: Searching for facts? Check out the new SN facts (and similar) thread over here: http://forums.unknownworlds.com/discussion/133464/collection-of-sn-facts-and-other-stuff-like-guesses#latest
Stuff I haven't moved yet:
Now, let's take a look at the background of the Subnautica tweets.
We can see some giant, whale-like alien lifeform. It's surrounded by divers. So maybe there will be NPCs/multiplayer, to control them. The whale itself would be a NPC, I guess.
Looks like they are doing scientific studies. Maybe we can do research on things we find.
A guess for a general setting: We are exploring the oceans of some faraway planet.
That's it for today, I might organize this collection of facts during the following days.
small update before i go to bed:
IRONHORSE KNOWS SOMETHING!!!!
So, I decided to take a look at the background and profile images of the subnautica profile.
- a diver is confronted with some giant crustacean
- there seems to be a giant eel in the background
- on the ocean ground there seem to grow jellyfish-mushrooms, pretty big
will everything be oversized in this game? will we interact with ancient/alien creatures only?
This appears to be the interior of a submarine. Maybe submarines will feature multiple decks, because here we can see deck one. The general art style looks like in the NS2 concepts, so maybe we can expect similar ingame graphics as in NS2/maybe it's even set in the same universe.
The submarine seems to be pretty spacey, too. Any idea what these electric things on the walls are?

I suppose single player cause chatting players kinda ruin the whole exploration part, right?
I bet on singleplayer (it's procedural). Or maybe like minecraft: Procedural worlds, in which you can invite players later in development.
Either way, this private forum will make a MUCH better place for updates, info, and general supprises about this game!
Maybe more like 'GUNS OF ICARUS' but in an underwater sci-fi setting.
Greenhouse gas explosion, mass ice melting, civilization moving underwater in subnautical vessels.
Small teams of trusted crew man working together to survive and find resources. Crews competing against each other, when they meet.
and then...
A meteor crash lands.. Something moves.. Taunting sounds from other worlds..
The FISHORGE arrives!
You know something, right. Please tell us that it will be awesome.
How did you discover this!! We shall mercilessly pursue this leak and have the offender cast into the ocean...
This game looks like it could be really interesting. I cant wait to see more!
(or even get into an early alpha!?!??)
The desktop background looks like some under water concept art too.
I think he was just saying he had to bite his lip to keep from ripping that guys head off who said he didn't enjoy singleplayer.
The "facebook integration" and "sent to instagram" is like.... I don´t know, worrying.

PD: I know they are ideas throwed to the board, but the where though at the primary stage of the develoment....
But most importantly:
Is this in the same universe as NS2?
To Sink or Swim (with arms)
Voxel terrain! Nice.
What I would like to see is something in the line of Open World meets Waking Mars.
That was a really good game, simple gameplay, good ambiance, amazing ambient music and a nice cast of characters.
Subnautica - You dive, you drive, you swim, you eat, its like real life only underwater, you hijack seahorse's and ride them around, slapping random sharks and fleeing, You collect pick ups from frogs (these are the so called cartel Leaders, the mob bosses, dont mess with these guys) that also give you odd jobs, and this is just to get you some Rep up (cause you need this rep to overthorw poseidon god of the sea's)
Once you get enough rep you gain levels and progress onto other oceans and take on bigger and badder. You will also get a chance to see the Whale Cartel, Swimming with the fishes and the Mermaid escort Service. Also Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott show up but then realize that this is not where they parked there car......Doctor who dies (at last) and you become king of the sea.
There is more than a little trolling going on on that whiteboard.
When I saw the "left mouse button binded to "send to instagram"" - I highly suspected that...
You're welcome. Early alpha would be awesome.
B-)
