this is based on an old thread, if you want to see it search for "Alien Arc", anyway all it is an area denial/AoE effect, heres how it works: it is a crab-like creature(changeable) that releases spores in a certain radius around it, it has high armor and health because its slow moving,also a possible upgrade to it is to have umbra to be released along with spores for a amount of Tres, or it could have a separate biomass system and the higher it is the more potent the spore/umbra is it could also be how umbra is unlocked also there could be an acid cloud that damages armor(for exos),its most obvious use is to leave it in the hive room so aliens have more time to get to the hive, it is also a rush deterrent(stated above), ideas are very welcome, try to keep criticisms well thought out!

Anyways, not sure exactly how well that would work into the game-play considering there's already (almost useless) whips and hydras for defense. whips also will toss acid once mature, so the spores killing exos thing seems unlikely. seems like something the res-starved khamm would have to focus res on. You mentioned it was an alien arc, but then suggested it be left in a hive location. I envision a huge ugly crab thing blocking an already cramped hive. people don't like when ips and armories are pgs are placed too close, can happen w shifts, crags, and shades too, so again not exactly sure how it could be fluidly implemented.
could you describe more the size and movement function you're thinking of?

i was thinking its size would be similar to an Arc's but taller wider and longer, and when its ready to release its gases its back opens up like a beetles and the gas starts spreading.and i said there will be an acidic gas within the spore cloud and if this is even possible on the engine it could have all gasses in the cloud that the kharra can create..of course it will be very expensive to make and research etc etc, and remember ideas are very welcome!
whips are not useless, they do 484 structural damage with their acid. Holy crap, 2 bile whips can kill an exo in 1 volley. Echo some in to really give the marines a bad day (especially if you can do it behind them with a shade). Hydras were never meant to be a defense structure in the sense they can't hold an area without an attending gorge, as useless as turrets but cheaper. It really is just to cause delay for lone marines or a small group doing a push in a room.
i think he meant mini drones about half the size of an Mac armed with pistols, it'll shoot slow,same rate as a hydra?
Maybe a mini deployable turret, I would prefer Marines to be able to buy such devices rather than leaving it to the commander, I wonder how that would affect gameplay though?
Also the Counter to ARC is Shades and using Ink Clouds. All support buildings are moveable now so the Crab Monster isnt a good idea.

Something that is very slow and melts armour through walls WOULD be used to counter arcs.
Also aliens have seige capabilities now with contamination, yaaayyy!

You have one fade, get 2 skulks to bite the legs and attach then another 2 attach on the arms as extensions.
Then either get a gorge or lerk to land on the fades shoulders for the head that can bile or spike.
Boom 1K Health/Armour right there, look our Rines when our powers combine we are greyskull!
It totally work for 6v6 competitive as well it only needs 6 players.
