<b>In reference to the LF clan topic:</b>

If you are looking to play competitive in NS2, I would suggest to try out gathers. It's a good starting point.
Especially if you are the one who is looking for the team or the team captain (or part of a team) and looking for some more players.
That's the place to show off your personal and team skills, practice and improve it.
The meta of the game is completely different in organized 6v6 games.

EVENTUALLY, you could also organize a MIX with those gather players to play some pcw versus a proper clan.

    Played my first Gather tonight.

Are all the servers in Europe? Voting for a server is defeated when it doesn't even show the entire server name so I don't know if they are US or EU

And everyone on my team was pretty bitter throughout the whole entire map.
If its just a <i>"Sometimes experienced players can get a bit frustrated with the beginners but its okay, we've all been through that path before, its nothing personal."</i> well thats a good way to keep new players such as myself away from NS2 Gather. Would prefer not to have to join the 20 - 24 slot servers where everyone is atleast having fun...

Most of the gathers I play (and I play quite a lot) people are mostly friendly, even towards new players. There are new players joining basically every day and I very rarely see anyone being frustrated with new players. The only thing I can frown upon is joining a gather without knowing the maps, which are few (3). How often do you run in to a rude player while playing on public servers? It's basically the same here.

It's unlucky that you have encountered a player like this but please don't let that stop you. It's actually a lot of fun once you get the hang of how things work!

I have to echo this point.

Most gathers I have played we welcome new players, honestly your ability to play
matters less than just listening to where your team tell you to go.

Also. I would suggest new players identify themselves as such.

People have a lot more patients if you say "This is my first gather, what should I do?"

I would like to know this too. I went to sign up and didn't see anything seperating EU from US players. Is there a way to choose or do some just have to play with lag?

There's not, really. You kind of just have to familiarize yourself with all of the players/servers as you go. And no, there is also no way to sign up for region-based gathers either. ;/

Usually it ends up being hosted in the majority's region. So I would suggest signing up during US/EU prime times if you want the best chance to have region specific matches as most of the players signing up will likely be from the respective region.

Tried a few of these gathers, they are rather fun as long as the teams are picked correctly to avoid steamrolling to badly. People are friendly even to newbies like me, just need more people to join to get them up quicker and on a more consistant basis.

Yeah in the short run a few modifications should make it easier "quite soon" to see the nationalities. In the long run, we'll probably have a way to have parallel gathers for different regions.

Anyway I could watch a gather play on my map? I think the best way to make the map better is to watch organized play.

I would absolutely love to. It's hard to get the players on board and a server with the map loaded.

    Definitely need map variety.

I'm on steam workshop now, so if you subscribe to the map it will automatically keep it updated when you start natural selection 2

I've been playing in these for about 1.5 weeks and they are really fun and much more competitive than pubs, if you can stomach the sometimes long waiting times and the occasional annoying whiner on TS (although the vast majority of the players in these gathers have good sportsmanship). Need more players during the evening hours EST!

I believe it's called a "Sticky Bump". Something usually involving a Gorge and someone's bed.

I'm just 1 person, but in my experience more and more gathers were about some 12th pick not showing up and being replaced by some high-skill merc
