These are pick-up games where a dozen players decide to play a competitive NS2 game together. Anyone who understands basic english and is willing to listen is welcome to join. These games are much more demanding, organized and arguably more fun than the public servers- You can get a taste of the competitive NS2 scene in a more casual and friendly atmosphere. Nearly all players who play gathers regularly prefer them over public. Gather games tend to be more balanced as captains pick the teams, and admins might intervene to avoid boring walkovers.
To join:

You will need: Teamspeak3 and a working copy of NS2. You might also need some tolerance for extended waiting.

Register on www.ENSL.org using your preferred NS2 alias.

Go to www.ENSL.org and click NS2 Gather at the top. Click "Click to join gather!". Be sure that you can be available for at least an hour after the gather begins. If you decide to leave the gather you must click "leave gather" and confirm, closing your browser or leaving the page does not remove you from the gather.

You are now in the gather. Once 12 players have joined, the gather will begin, and you will be expected to join the gather Teamspeak to begin the match. The Teamspeak server info will be listed on the Gather page under Voice Communication.

Music will play once the gather has begun. At this point you should vote for your preferred Team Captains, Server, and Maps. Simply click on the player/server/map names in the list to vote for them. You get 2 captain votes, 1 server vote and 2 map votes.

If any custom maps are chosen you can download them here.

You know what? I just bought a mic and headset for $9 (that's including shipping) from Newegg. Soon, this will be a non-issue for me.

It's not NEEDED. There's this robot I know who does fine without one.
Allright, BUT WHAT ABOUT RULE NUMBER #8?!?!?
Also good job on this thread, hopefully it will bring more players. While mic is not absolutely required, it definitely helps a lot when you can warn people or spot something and communicate it quickly. (or rage when hits dont register, always important)
Just awesome.
Here is the topic that got the gathers opened.

To anyone who is getting even a little tired/annoyed with public play, I urge you to try a gather.
I was getting tired of playing with newer players that I sometimes end up playing against. I know I am not a great player, and it showed in the gather, but I was very happy to of played well. Not as good as I do against newer players but the experience was better.

Theres usually gathers almost every night, but worse performance and more warping skulks has got atleast my playing motivation down recently. Rather just fire up some ns1 instead.
i'm really rusty with premiere, so i'm sure i didn't do this right. blame hugh for losing his gather password. i can try to re-edit later, but i wanted to get this up to promote the gathers, they were a lot of fun and even though i was terrible, everyone was nice to me.
the audio is from teamspeak alien side only and i don't know why it slowly starts to echo, but thats what actually happened, i apologize i know its annoying.
also.. GORGE RUSH!
I apologise for the poor quality of work, for all the missed action, and in particular for round 2, where my conversation with Hunter(above) meant I missed loads of action, including a hive going down :( Also, I somehow managed to lose the sound :P I am sorry, but my commentary was crap anyway, so no big deal... Although you do lose the sounds from around the map too :(
Please forgive me, it was my first proper time recording games, I hope to get better.... to be this bad forever would suck, hahaha :P
Round 1 -

Round 2 -

Map was NS2_Tram. I thought it hilarious that both rounds, and the false start round before round 1, all had the same spawn.. Aliens in Warehouse, and Marines in Server...
EDIT-----
The movie is exported at 1024x576, and yet you can only select 480p as the highest quality, which is a shame, as it's pants, ahahaha.
5 more needed for next gather!! http://www.ensl.org/gathers/5319
