The negative impact of the crusher on the aliens outweighs the novelty.
As alien khammander, I've lost several valuable players to that rediculous thing. These were not random idiots that got crushed.... they were skilled fades that had no other choice than to attempt to exit the room via the crusher.
I've also seen other aliens get randomly killed.
Certainly some timer/indicator for crushing would be a nice courtesy if the mapmaker will not remove the crusher.
I think I have an idea that most people could agree with....
Make the crusher activate when welded.
It wouldn't have much affect on the gameplay or balance, if at all, and is a fun little feature that is potentially easy to implement.
In fact, any sort of weldable triggers would be great.
Doors, vents, crusher, airlocks, gates, extending bridges and etc.

Sidenote: I really hate Bella Omega gameplay-wise, but the art design for it is FABULOUS!
