Are you asking why people are complaining about the skulk movement changes or the addition of gorge tunnels? I assume you're referring to the latter. It's because marines have phase gates (as well as beacon), letting them respond to incoming threats immediately. As aliens, you would have been hard-pressed to respond to threats all the way across the map unless you were at that location in the first place or happened to spawn there. I guess fades are the exception since they're the fastest lifeform in-game. Gorge tunnels are a bit of a throwback to the instant hive teleport in NS1.
the reasons marines have those things is because they are slow, i dont know about you but a skulk lerk fade and onos can respond pretty quickly on any part of the map. then they make gorge tunnels that even work OFF infestation and they are like 15 foot tunnel. They should make them pretty long so short ones make no sense to use, orrrrr make them a straight shot so you can run in a straight line point A to B. The instant hive transport wasnt bad, you could go back to the hive if you used the chamber but not outside an enemy base.
You all realize that gorge tunnels are a double-edged sword, correct? And that by building one you're making a two-way tunnel usable by EITHER team.
Comparing them to phase gates is silly and misrepresents them. The only way they are like phase gates is that they make moving from point A to point B faster. In fact, you can tell that Descent was designed with the use of gorge tunnels in mind, due to its sprawling, labyrinthine layout.
Again we're back to talking about "need". That's just not a meaningful discussion. Gorge tunnels are useful, they are fun, and they are balanced by drawbacks such as the res investment and marines traveling through them. Why shouldn't they be in the game? More options is a good thing.

You will NOT win a game as Marines without PGs, this can not be argued.
