Kicking AFKers
Anything to be done about this? I think a simple 'you've been in the ready room for >3 minutes kick' and/or 'you havent moved in >2 minutes' would suffice

Now obviously this can be solved by attentive admins, but I feel like this is something that should be integrated into the main game itself

And nothing is ever "a simple thing to add" when it comes to programming. Ever.

It depends what you're talking about, changing the flashlight is no doubt a quick fix and adding afk stuff is not really that difficult, plus they could borrow from existing mods if they wanted, also why does there have to be a negative to the flashlight? It bothers others more then yourself, you can use alien vision as much as you like, really though the point of my comment was uwe's stance on some issues, if the majority want something why go against it?
Because it's already there, and making an official version of something that already works unofficially is a waste of time.
Thats a horrible reason not to include something. If that was the case 'Towns' would just stop development because obviously the modders have everything under control.
Skyrim would get no DLC's... And UWE would just let new maps come into the community by the community and rely on them to fix their maps.
Getting something like this would help the overall game, which would be a good use of time for UWE
IMO afkers should only be kicked when the server is full and there are 16 or less slots, and even then, it should be a 10 minute afk kick, not 1 minute like i remember many AMX mods were set to in ns1.

The kick should have no bearing on whether its full or not. And as far as the time length, just set it as a server variable so admins can pick how long they want people to chill for before being kicked
Ha, was about to say they were doing the server a favour making it 8v8.
AFK kick needs to be introduced but I'd put it at 5-10 minutes instead, sometimes I like to get something to eat on map load and don't want to be kicked out of a server I queued 15 minutes for (not a full meal, snack).
This avoids kicking people when it really doesn't have to.
Ahem, you can actually disable the 'showing atmospherics' issue but turning off most of your advanced graphics settings. It's stupid that the game plays better in almost every way with graphics set to 2005 but there it is.

Without it, why would you ever turn it off?

It's designed in such a way that people that want to win will turn off graphics settings that annoy the poor n00b's with cranked settings. I leave my flashlight on all the time because it helps me play better. Why should I cater to people that are so dumb that they would rather play in the dark than have a useful flashlight? And people wonder why the Marines have a crappy win ratio...
As for the actual OP, I go AFK all the time and I should get kicked. I generally go and smoke a cigarette after a match, and I know that I'm hindering the server by doing it but I do it anyway. There are servers that kick me for this, and I have no issue with that. There are plenty of servers so joining into a new game is super simple, and if you want to idle in a server to wait for a new game you can either have your own server to idle in or join another one after being kicked that already has a game going.
I'd agree that you had a balanced game going without all those people, but on a 16 person official server it would be a lot more helpful to kick idle players that much is for sure. There are no server admins on official servers so it would make a lot more sense for this to be a feature rather than a mod.
