CS Retail and can't install NS?

<div class="IPBDescription">Read me now!</div>If you are running a copy of CounterStrike Retail (usually a non-English version), and are having problems installing NS, we have a workaround for you. This seems to happen to a handful of users, but the fix below will get NS onto your system:
1. Download the dummy half-life executable file from <a href="http://www.natural-selection.org/downloads/hl.exe" target="_blank">here</a>.
2. Copy file into your counterstrike retail directory (in the same spot as your cs.exe or cstrike.exe).
3. Run the Natural-Selection Installation.
4. The NS installation will think the dummy HL.exe is patched correctly, and complete your installation.
Now, there is a caveat to this - the installer will create a shortcut that points to the dummy HL.exe. You will need to edit your 'Launch Natural Selection' shortcut to point to your counterstrike exe. That is the only downside. Once you install, you can actually throw the dummy HL.exe away.

Ok ignore question above ^ I found out why. but...

cannot load library C:\SIERRA\counter-strike\ns\cl_dlls\client.dll
I checked and its all their. Please help me
after you've installed NS go back to ur desktop
i don't know about u mine had a shortcut created,
if u dun copy ur hl, cs shortcut to desktop and change icon
1) if u had a short cut created in the installation, dun run it, instead right click shortcut and click properties or waht ever its called.
then in the second tab, there should be 5 boxes.
in the second box, copy and paste whatever it says on ur hl, cs shortcut(for hl it should be
C:\Sierra\HALF-L~1)
2) if u didn't have a shortcut, make it and i'm not telling u how to make it.

Whenever i try to start a game on eithr LAN or Net it says
tmessage::TextMessageParse:messagecount>=MAX_MESSAGES
PLEASE HELP ME MUST PLAY NATURAL SELECTION!

Okay, you can do this buy getting a halflife cd, and use your CS retail key in the halflife wonID thingy and thatll work... i have like CSretail, blueshift (I didnt have opposing force), and 2 halflife copies and i use the CS retail because someone else was using my halflife id... ill find that **obscenity**...
Oh yeah! the blueshift also worked too, so if you want an extra halflife wonID around, just buy it, it comes with opposinjg force which is a great mod in itself...

Perhaps it was the fact that my Counter-Strike Retail was a US version though, so I wouldn't have been affected. I feel bad for all the people who can't play it though, because they're missing the most awesome mod to rear its sexy armor-plated, parasite-infested, horn-clad, war torn head. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> By the way to all you unfortunate NSers, since I myself am an avid Half-Life mod fan, I think I know a liiitttlllleee bit about this kind of stuff, so my suggestion would be to just leave the hl.exe after you create it. Infact, I believe that MonseiurEvil forgot to mention that you should copy the hlds.exe file and NOT the cstrike.exe file (I think). Also, if you guys aren't sure what MonseiurEvil meant when he said change the Natural Selection Target, he meant:

I'm using CS-retail, and have the dummy hl.exe in the right place. I've re-downloaded the installer 3 times and each time I get the same error-- except with different numbers where the XXXX's are...
Any ideas?
ps. i have played NS in my friends house and i really like it!!!
"You cannot connect to a server runnning custom game ns until you install the custom game"
The game apears to be installed ok, cause i see the NS screens.
What am I doint wrong?
