i have a problem ive installed ns but i get the cs picture and no text in the console, and it says i must have ns installed when i try to connect to a server(and yes i am running ns when this happens)
ive installed ns and ive got cs retail 1.5 english. i get bthe cs picture in the console and it tells me i must install ns to play on the servers in my list(while i have it running).sum1 stop me from topping myself!
i as so many other people are, am getting the version **** and i have dled the dummy. anything you can tell me to help would be great. WHY O WHY DOESNT ANYTHING WORK LIKE ITS SUPPOSED TO???
ok for the people who are experiencing version crap i have come up with a solution if you have counter strike retail then under the sierra folder just make a new folder and name it "Half-Life" and copy the dummy in there with you cstrike.exe and your hlds icon thingy (dont know if the cstrike.exe and the hlds thingy are rquired they where just in there when i got mine to work). then run your ns like normal and i think you it should install (atleast it did for me)
ok forget every damn thing i said. i have figured it out and i tryed the game and i can enter games and everthing. And this is very simple. Just rename your Counter Strike folder "Half-Life" and you should be good to go (be sure to have the dummy hl icon in that folder.if this doesnt work for you then i say sry i dont know what to tell you

Allright for all you people that are having problems ill explain ALL ... well ill try ok here i go :
First of all make sure you have all that is required. dont go off installing NS when you have a pentium 2 500 or something.. thats just plain dumb.
1.Problem 1 - Having trouble installing? Do you get "You need 1.1.1.0 or 1.3 to install" ? ok you can download the dummy and replace the other hl.exe and then install it from there.
2.problem 2 - When you try to join a server does it say something like "the server has custom game installed and you need to have custom game installed to play"? well all you need to do is right click on the ns icon on your desktop > go to properties > look at Start in and see if its directed to teh right place > if not change it to c:/sierra/counter-strike if its c:/sierra/Half-life or the other way... you know what i mean.
3.if you get any other errors that means you did it wrong or your computer is jsut crap.
P.S. - THIS GAME IS SO FUN! ITS LIKE STARCRAFT in 3d! really fun.. gl
im not gettin the same problems as the ppl have posted, but i can't find anywhere else to post this to get any responses...i get some blue screen error thing where it says there has been a fatal error about asp(01)wave or whatever. is there some kind of solution or does my computer not cut the minimum? i sure think it does...
okok... first of all. make sure u d/l the right file. make sure u have ns not the dedicated server. then when u have it. just take the hl dummy and stick it in Counter-Strike folder c:/sierra/counter-strike. when the dummy is in, run the installer and make sure u choose the path where the dummy file is. thats how u get it to work =/ (btw. make sure ur cs is patched to 1.5) and when is done. remove the shortcut to go to ns. it messes things up and u cant play with that. so delete it and run counter strike. then go to custom click and activate natural selection
i have cs retail and NS installs fine. however when i join a game i get kicked to the console and a msg saying something about 'cl_.....' comes up. any suggestions?

Thank MonsieurEvil that solve 1 of my problem. I have another one. I can join the game but when i enter and wait for the game to load i see only half of the screen and the graphic is all mess up. The same problem happen when I enter the game. Can anyone help me out?
my comp when im installing with dummy file in Sierra.Cstrike. it still says when i go into install it says i need to update 1.1.1 or sumtin and i have latest like 1.5... i nned help!!!
Well, i installed it and everything, and it works, its just that whenever i join a game about five seconds, or when i try to join a team, i get kicked and it says Server protocal is 1701890 instead or 46...... can i fix this? i havent been able to play lately because of it.
As far as I know, that issue is caused by Cheating-Death servers. Are you running the CD client? If not you may want to install it, as people say it squares away the issue...
Hey guys, I got a new problem for you. I recently bought Day of Defeat Retail and it installs mods. I wanted to get NS but it said I needed HL or CS retail. this strange thing is happening to me...i install ns, works fine, boot it, works, creates a LAN, (heres the wierd part) i dont fins any maps!..so out of pure curiosity, i press "ok", så it starts loading, and my cs splash is beeing used :S and when going to online games, i cant fins ns in filter games :S and same thing happens when i install to hl..and if i boot up HL and press custom game, ns isnt on the list, not even after i press refresh :S
