NS2 Casting

Hey guys,

I run a YouTube channel, where I play various games (a bunch of Minecraft currently.) But I want to get into casting NS2 games and clan matches professionally. Maybe not <i>right </i> when I get the preorder (I need to practice my casting skills on non-competitive games and such) but definitely soon after full release.

I just have two questions:

1. Is there any specific date on when NS2 is released? I have a preorder on it from Steam.

2. How much interest is there in the community for NS2 professionally cast videos? My format would be fairly default for casting standards, but with a few cool features, such as an end of game review of great plays and amazing players and such. This is especially a question for clans, because I eventually want to start casting on professional gameplay.

    release is 31.10., and casters are always welcome but i really shoudl 1st try if fraps is not take u too much cpu power..

    Im sure that if you ask blind, or any of the other casters nicely. That they will let you sit in and co-cast the normal pcw/scrims.

    I think there's a big interest to get more good and professional casters to the scene. I personally feel the game is great to watch but casting is often not at the same level.

    If it's okay to sort of hijack your thread PrecentralGyrus, I've been interested in casting NS2 for a while too on <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/TychoCelchuuu" target="_blank">my YouTube channel</a> (my connection is too bad for me to stream) and I was wondering about the technical/organization side of it. How do you get into games to cast them? Do you just, like, know people int he tournaments and join the servers and cast? Is there some place to get replays? I've been an NS fan since before the first mod came out but I've never been super into the competitive stuff and the FPS scene seems way different from the RTS scenes I'm used to - there's much more of a focus on streaming than replays so I don't know how to get in on the games that are streamed.

    Lurk and stalk players, go in the server, start casting. If there's a tournament ask for approval if you dont get one, start shouting like a madman here so the actual players can correct this.

    Recording is fine, every computer capable of running the game can do it, letting people know where to find the videos is the hard part.

    Add a few players from each team to steam friends and then simply ask them anytime you see them in a private server. That's how a lot of the current streamers got their start.

    I get so many Steam friend requests that I just deny the ones that I don't recognize but maybe the clanners are nicer than I am! I'm already friends with Mendasp who I just learned plays on a team so that's like, 1 down already! Soon I will be just like blind!
