I really like the idea of having some marketing thing in this game like incorporating the trailer to NS2 in a smart way ( to not annoy people ) and maybe have a preorder screen wich directs the player to the official NS2 page.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> It's official, we got the permissions from UWE :)

I think it would be cool to make the game 1 vs 1. Alien comm vs marine comm. Works off a level based system the more you do the more you can unlock such as lvl 10 unlocks jetpacks etc.

Have you guys ever looked at <a href="http://unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=109405" target="_blank">http://unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=109405</a> for possible textures? Seems like it would work.
sooo how does this look for a main manu background? nice huh? :D <img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2384494/main_menu_bg_1.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" /> and yes that is the tech point from the map summit. I wanted to have that big spaceship cockpit window looking at what appears to be a Khara planet.

Terrible because of the lack of colors. Other than that it is not so bad.
Also the composition feels a bit overwhelming. What i think would be better, if i had to use your image as reference - some kind of bottom to top camera swipe and zoom-in on this big monitor and have the menu displayed on that(futuristic/minimalistic menu, with scanlines colors and the forms we know from the marine guis)
But its not perfect either...
edit: you could have some infestation that tries to grow over this monitor and makes it flicker sometime(starting at a corner, bottom or top right), e.g. by exiting the game it grows over it a bit more and turns it off/breaks it and stuff like that... so its having some more kharaa presence.
Aren't animated 2D game sprites generally done using a sprite map? e.g. (from Google Image Search) <img src="http://www.allacrost.org/media/art/sprites_map_claudius.png" border="0" class="linked-image" /> (rather than using animated GIFs or individual image files - which are perfectly fine ways to preview and edit animations, respectively)

anyway thanks for the responses and keep the feedback coming.
<a href="http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/9851/allmats.jpg" target="_blank">http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/9851/allmats.jpg</a> <-- great textures!!
Also sorry for lack of update's but college, setting up servers etc etc has been taking up a lot of my time. Me and riv and swalk will be getting together hopefully in the next few days to finalize the main concept of the engine we are going to build. And then ounce this has been done with so many good idea's by them both! we can finally get some hard grafting done on the code. Optimization is a key for me making sure it run's on a lot of different clients and making sure it's lag free for the older pc users and maybe in the future "smart phone apps!" so guys i will post a big update soon with all that is going on around the NS2D world sry for the lack in update's at the moment and also that back ground look's sick ^^; And thank you to the NS2 dev team also and swalk for communicating with them for giving us the go ahead on NS2D!
I like how this editor works: <center><object width="450" height="356"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ikQurnqO4vI"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ikQurnqO4vI" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="450" height="356"></embed></object></center>

Whats the plan for ns2d?
After working on this project with you I was kinda sad that it died out. Good to see a return though :D
