    I was thinking is there anyway to record the animations from the model viewer with black screen and then use the same method as greenscreen cause that would be great, we can have much smoother sprites?
    like this over here
    <img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2384494/fade.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" /> I mean just look at how awsome it looks compared to this <img src="http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u33/irjason/lolzfade.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />
    I just dont know how to get rid of the black background color, anyone here good with Adobe Premiere Pro and know how to export to .gif with transparansy?

    <!--coloro:#FF8C00--><span style="color:#FF8C00"><!--/coloro-->Edit<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->
    <img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2384494/111132113.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />
    So after some work I got it to work properly, but it took taking the file back and forth between photoshop and Premiere Pro, I still need to know if there is a way to do it all in Premiere Pro and export as animated .gif with transparansy. btw the example above has less frames than the one with black background it was just for testing.

    <!--coloro:#FF8C00--><span style="color:#FF8C00"><!--/coloro-->Edit<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->
    ok so this is the most recent one Ive made, hope its good.

    ok so I mananged to make those, I will keep updating as soon as I make more sorry for the double post but the forum wouldn't allow me to post more pictures in the same reply. I have the .psd files for those sprites if some tweaking/resizing is needed so I can send them if you guys want them.

    Btw for some reason internet explorer 8 plays these sprites at slower speed I am not sure why ( havn't tested newer versions ) so make sure to open this page in chrome or firefox to avoid that.

    How come all your animated .gif images have a white border? Would a black border look better?

    hey all, amazing work on the sprite's the preview one i did was very quick and lazyly done was going to update it at a later date, but fantastic work cant wait to get them all sorted and ingame was also wondering if you could do one with the marine basic animations! would be pretty nice to get it implmented but there is some huge news really on how thing's are changing. First of all im out of action because i managed to break my PC on xmas day when "upgrading it" <breaking it so shamfully i wont get the part's now till thursday to fix what i tryed to upgrade.. doh lol, on the other news.. NS2D is effectivly starting over.. Sounds bad right? well no not really, we are going to start making a totaly new custom engine using c++/dx support there for creating alot less lag and also giving us alot more control of what we are doing. while we are doing this we will be also programming in the multi player par to par with client. that will use it's own dedicated server set up! meaning it will also be less resource demanding to host than running a client version of cource. So the down side is the current method of the game progress is going to really be started over. the bright side is we allready have alot of the methodigy down and alot of the basic art work done! so that will speed up the process of the new version alot. The reason we are doing this now is because we were in time planing to do this after a inital release. But have came down to thinking it is now better to do it this way from what we have allready got that to input some many diffrent thing's to only have our time wasted. along side our new coder who has a good amount of knoledge and a dear friend of mine in gamedesign also helping a great deal! So shamfully i will not be able to do ANYTHING till my computer is back up and running but look forward to hearing what swalk/riv have been thinking as i have shamfully been away! Also merry xmas to all and hope you had a great one and have a great new year! And ounce more thanks to rammaj for all his hard work, i actually on the orginal version didn't use white but a transparent layer but since gif does not support transparent layers and i was to lazy to set a alpha channel it apear's white. were as we will be using transparent layer support formats "tga" this isn't to much off a issue but it is allways nice to have a more accurate version! and also since i never got to say this b4 i broke my pc Merry xmas riv and swalk!

    I just realized that the sprites can't have legs it will look weird when strafing and moving in two axes, so I will remake them without legs and try to start off with marines and their weapons.

    rammaj: those look great, though the edges would benefit from being smoothed.

    So is this fan game going to be a twin-stick shooter or an RTS? Or both?

    I allso made the sentry gun with base and top parts so you can have the base image still and the top image on top of it so you can rotate and what not.
    Base holds the gun in place <img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2384494/sentry%20gun/sentry%20gun_base.png" border="0" class="linked-image" /> and the top part<img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2384494/sentry%20gun/sentry%20gun_top.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    Question to swalk and irjason since the sprites I posted are repeating over and over would that be a problem when you implement it ingame? do I need to remake them to play only once and then stop?

    First of all, still looking great!
    I'm not sure how we are going to implement them, so unfortunately I can't give you the awnser. Hopefully Jason can.
    But I can definitly get your logic, and think that it <i>might</i> be a problem. Don't do anything drastic just yet :)

    I really like this stuff. I remember how HL2 came shipped with a 2D-game, or was it free as a teaser? I don't know anymore.

    I just hope it keep true to NS2. Having other gamemechanics can confuse nebwies who think they can learn NS2 by playing NS2D.

    We are intending on keeping it true to NS2, with some light adjustments, like removing energy and using personal res costs instead.
    We won't make up new game mechanics per se :)

    Allright working on them now I will upload soon I just wanna remind you to delete any legs u see cause it will look weird when for example a fade is strafing, allso the marine run model is without weapons so u can place a weapon on top of the run animation,hmm well thats all I can come up with for now.

So soon as get get the base fundamentals done on this engine we will be putting a lot more updated vids/photo's up =]

    Maybe in the long run we can do something like that depending on the requirements and if opengl that we will be now using to do the game engine is support by the iphone we might be able to port it to the iphone but we are currently looking mainly at making it computer based and i know android has opengl compatibility so we will properly look at porting it to that after we have the first release done ^^;

    That is a great idea maybe even contact steam to put it under the "free to play catagory" and even have it on the Desura platform but first and formost you have to get the OK from UWE.

    I really like the idea of having some marketing thing in this game like incorporating the trailer to NS2 in a smart way ( to not annoy people ) and maybe have a preorder screen wich directs the player to the official NS2 page.

    Have you guys even talked with uwe? The game art, name etc. is not free to use isnt it...?

    So they would need to give you some kind of license to use it, but remain the veto rights for anything you want to do with this application/game. (in case it doesnt meet their standards whatever etc. and so you cant just start to sell it etc :P - even tho i know free to play is the plan)

    Well it's a tribute game to the original game, and we're not going to make money off it, we're doing this for fun and learning.
    If UWE have objections they should give us a notice, simon helped us with sounds, so I guess they don't.
    It's free advertising for UWE.

    that would be awesom but only question would be how would the networking go who would host the servers for it and would there be ai for non online single player?
    would be cool if those things can be gotten around. would definitely like to have on the android platform

    For the first version(PC), we will have dedicated servers, so anyone can host a server.
    We might include a singleplayer mode with some simple AI, but our highest priority is to get multiplayer working.
    We talked about porting it to cellphones, but the PC version comes first.

    yea i understand i was just stating the problems they will run in to when porting it to a cellphone platform.
    im just wondering how using android or i-phone would work with trying to connect to a server.
