Hi my name is Nikita and I have a small question about NS2 pre-order on Steam, I pre-ordered the copy today and I'm wondering if I will get a beta key to try out the game before it actually releases. Or It doesn't matter if I pre-ordered it at all?
The performance is not horrendous. It's not perfect, or great, but it's far better than horrendous, or you have some cheap ass broken computer, that needs to be updated.
I would like to see a faster and better game, but I seriously doubt that anyone plays the game, and feels that all the lag/whatever is based on the game engine, and at the same time feel their computer is a cutting edge computer.
It's fair to complain about performance, and wish it better, but let's get realistic. It might be bad, and it might kill you 1-2 times a match, but it shouldn't be horrendous.
Hey. I'm running 4.5ghz and it's still >snip< horrendous. You can sugar coat if how ever you like, but the statement is not false. Performance is bad >snip< Edit. Not to say the game isn't awesome and all. But performance is, yeah, I guess you've got the picture by now.

We all know that the performance is not up to par yet and we also know that performance has increased a whole lot over the last few builds, so what exactly is your point? The devs have said it themselves the performance is not where they want it yet...
Also I suggest you start posting in a less volatile manner, we have rules against that kind of stuff :)

You're complaining about it dipping to 50 fps in combat? Most console games only have 24-30 FPS. Anything above 60 is probably faster than your monitor can update.

Are you kidding, When it got really bad I was getting less then 20 FPS now I avarage around 30 and i can play it really well. What you complaing for because you are getting better FPS then most pleople who currently play NS2

Thats my point actually. I know I'm getting "good" fps. But the fps I'm getting is still very, very bad compared to every single game out there. I still find NS2 very, VERY enjoyable. But the issues with performance just makes me a sad panda.
I'm not complaining because I don't think Max and everyone at UWE is doing everything in their power to make performance better. I am however complaining because the game in it's current state is not acceptable as a full 1.0 version of the game and hence should not be sold. Even if 100k pre orders are sold, I doubt even 5k will stick and play the game.
I fear this game will turn out like those few people who tried to make doom 3 duels valid, which were like 4-5 people in the end. Clinging on to that D3 was the best game ever. While no body could run it smooth.
I need my game to run smooth, and so do 99% of the people who play fps games competively.
However, I think by the time NS2 2.0 comes out, which should be in another 1-2 years, it will run smooth. See you then.

I get 67 average FPS in build 216, which should have improved with 217/218 but I haven't had time to play since then.
Looks like you need a real gaming computer to go with your "gaming" monitor homeboy.

His attitude is ######, but the performance is bad unfortunately and has been for a while comparing games. I can't even really play right now :(. Just because you get good performance does not matter at all. Many things effect PC performance, and with my current rig even though it's not the best can run other new games like GW2 and D3 just fine..

NS2 is in beta, performance is expected to be bad, there are alot of games that were as bad/if not worse in beta. Try playing planetside 2 beta, its even worse CPU wise than NS2 currently is and that's a AAA game.

No more insight is needed, we have found the issue. Your PC is not up to snuff to run the beta is its current state. Wait until release.

While the game runs well enough for me to have fun and not QQ about performance, he's right. The betas been going for like 2 years and, while lightyears better than the initial builds, it still doesn't run very well. I wouldn't hold my breath expecting that to magically change over the next month or two.

exactly! I don't understand how people can think that the performance will be awesome on release. It took them ages to make it playable and now in two months everything should be fixed ?! Sure ...... This game just needs way more time until its really finished/playable.
Comments
Where does it say that? If I do get beta access I'll probably pre-order today.
It doesn't say that anywhere anymore, and hasn't since the game went up on steam (or a few hours after).
I'm afraid beta keys are no longer being given out, however if you pre-ordered you get a FREE upgrade to the Digital Deluxe Edition! :)
Release isn't far away guys. We're almost there.
Too bad the performance is still horrendous. (Sorry fanboys)
