It's probably been mentioned, but the recommended system requirements for hard drive space is listed as 5 MB.

The Dynamic Environments key feature also has some errors in it.

so the good news is that in the <!--coloro:#FF8C00--><span style="color:#FF8C00"><!--/coloro-->TOP SELLERS<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> NS2 is in the 5th place, the bad news is that steam is bugged as hell today and sometimes it is showing a different TOP SELLERS list where NS2 is not even listed!
allso for some reason there are 2 NS2 pictures there, they both will take you to the same NS2 store page, but it might hurt sales by confusing some potential buyers.

    Congrats UWE!
Looking forward to sending a copy to friends.

In other news, #naturalselection on irc.gamesurge.net is getting a lot of NS2 activity!

Thank you UWE for everything, it has been fun to see this game evolve from shooting static targets in to a fullblown NS experience. It still has it's buggs, flaws and problems. But this is why we love it. Because we know it will get better, you have proved that over and over again.

I bought this game 2 years ago knowing you guys would pull trough and get ###### done! And to say the least not only did you do that, but you did it beyond my comprehension, there is no game developers today that beats you. In my personal opinion!

    Thank you for everything!

Awesome news you guys. Congrats on the milestone, you really deserve this. I am a long-time NS fan (I think NS is my favorite multiplayer game of all time, no jokes), and I absolutely love NS2 so far. You have done an incredible job that could have turned very wrong, but you are very talented people and the game is a blast.

Keep up the good work, I am sure you will go very far!

I had to make a account to say this.

Thank you UWE, for making me spend so much time in NS1 and NS2. I was too late for the party to get a special edition, but it was never too late to have fun.
The moment I tried NS2 I was baffled how much love and hard work was put into it. NS2 has some stuff I never imagined a PC game would have for years thanks to console limitations that seems to happen alot lately to games.

I still have a hard time beliving only 7 people made this game, everything is so perfect, from the minor details to the menu in cafeteria to the details of the grand exo-suit!

    Thank you UWE and congratulations!

I remember accidentally downloading the original Natural Selection, yes <b>accidentally</b> (My friend referred a mod to me called TS, and a day or so had passed and I thought it was NS). One of the best mistakes I've made. After the first game, I was hooked.

Since then, I've followed most all of the development news, drooled over patch notes while downloading, and all of that.

Thanks UWE for all the years of dedication. I'm sure the excitement of the gameshows you attended really reaffirmed all your hard work.

Seeing NS2 on Steam almost brings a tear to my eye. Your story of going from free Half-Life mod to Triple-A blockbuster is very inspirational, especially to see your dreams come to fruition over all these years! All of you guys at UWE are true heroes! Thank you so much and keep kicking ass!

So happy for you guys, I hope giving away 45,000 free copies doesn't dig into your profits too much, you deserve every penny!

I've never been so passionate about a game in the 12+ years I've been gaming. Their is simply no other community out there like it. I played NS1 as a kid until stupid hours into the morning back when it was first released, and have racked up over 800 hours on NS2 since early 2011. Could not be happier for you guys.

Work hard up until release now! You should all get yourselves a holiday booked for early next year, you deserve a well earned break!

    Thanks again x

    Awesome move UWE!

I don't think the free copies will lower profits that much in the end because it will help to make the game more popular (UWE has very limited marketing), eventually causing more pre-orders. Plus: it basically doubles the community which will result in many more mods and other contributions!
<i>edit: It also goes well with their company slogan "Unite through play"</i>

A little bit of irony for me: Initially, one reason why I didn't pre-order the SE was me thinking "ah, if I have this fancy black armor people will expect much more from me ingame... the normal one will do."

That said, this is currently my favorite game and one of my all-time favorites anyway. Please keep up the great work! Also, I'm really hyped to get the Soundtrack and all the other fancy stuff :)

Congratulations ! I'm really happy about the free copy (I played the first NS with a friend who can't afford the second) but I hope this won't be a problem for your financial success.

PS : can't wait for the soundtrack and the artbook (by the way, will we have a hi-res version of every artwork or "just" an awesome pdf ? Maybe both with the "wallpapers" you're also talking about ?)

Thank you so much for making such an amazing game !

Haha that takes me back. TS and NS were the two best HL1 mods.
Five monopoly dollars to the first person who gets bullet time dodging modded into ns2.

    Thanks

It's been one hell of a journey and I sincerely hope it will pay off. You deserve success!

I preordered this game a long time ago, back when the black armor was available. Because I'm a student and I didn't have a gaming PC back then and wasn't sure if I'd have one in the future, I decided to get the cheaper version without the black armor. I thought that even if I never got to actually play the game, at least the twenty-something dollars would be a nice thank you for NS1. Now that I have played the game for hundreds of hours and on top of that, get all these freebies, I feel bad for being so cheap back then.

I really hope all the free copies won't hurt your sales too much!<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I too am feeling bad about getting so much value for money. I feel like I am robbing you.

I bought the special edition pre-alpha as a thank you for NS1 and I hoped NS2 would work out though didn't hold my breathe given how many games go under.
Now I have all the free stuff and another copy to give away!?
I'm going to have to buy another copy of the game so I can sleep at night...

In terms of vaule for money, this is THE best purchase I have ever made. For £25ish ($39.95), so far I am at 282 hours. That is nearly 9 pence per hour!!!
I don't mind spending £40 on what I consider a good game and getting 80 hours play from it (50p per hour). I am reluctant though treat myself to the pictures, which works out at more then £3 per hour... knowing that I am getting such fun for just 9p per hour, and that will only get lower... I am sorry, I just can't do it. I need to buy another copy or at least donate something...

I am part of a gaming community that has already given away copies of your game at our LAN party too - meaning we got a 16 person game going at a LAN, which was a lot of fun including a lot of new people:
    <a href="http://i.imgur.com/fdVEU.jpg" target="_blank">http://i.imgur.com/fdVEU.jpg</a>
(forgot to screen shot when the two in the ready room joined) - I must have been so engrossed/absorbed in the game!

Natural selection is what brought me into online gaming, infact, I haven't really played online games much since natural selection. I made friends and had a place to belong in the community and playing in scrimms.

back then I was a poor student, and playing such a fantastic game was unheard of! When you guys asked for pre-orders, it was a no brainer. Now, you're nearly there and I am so happy for it! The fact you're throwing sweet goodies my way is just icing on the cake.

You guys are just too good, I hope things continue to keep getting better!

I'm already planning this and a host more for Proving Grounds. I will post the game design document online soon.

    /offtopic

I have to say again through this thread how grateful I am for the opportunities you have provided me with, in allowing me finally to follow my dream of becoming of game developer. It is only through the tools and accessible language that you have provided, that I have been able to develop games. To be given all these extra goodies on top is just the icing on the cake. I now finally have the ability to bring on-board my own 'Max-Sized Brain' to help my projects, purely because of this gift of an additional game.

I contributed to constellation, because I wanted to 'buy' Natural Selection. I bought NS2 because I wanted to 'buy' Natural Selection again. What you have done since then with 2 copies of NS2 and a whole new dream for my life is what I got in return for buying NS twice. I think I did ok from the deal.

    Thank You.

I played NS1 literally since the first day (the days everyone had to play with pings > 300) and i hosted several years my own server (Weasels Reborn; some may remember).

I preordered NS2 at the first days (or even first day; i don't know; preordered 28.05.2009). I preordered as appreciation for the fun and playtime i had with NS1 and TBH i did not think UWE will be able to pull off such a big project.

I'm glad and happy i was wrong. On top of that i think you did a great job with NS2.

    Congratulations and thank you!

There it is. It's almost there. After all these years of watching, waiting. As a poor college student, i bit my bullet. Getting the normal pre-order instead of the Special Edition felt like such a loss. But I contributed what I could. I'm glad.

I'm glad it wasn't for naught. I can safely say that this is the game I have spent the majority of my leisure time on. So many rounds. Veil, Origin, Hera, Tanith. I remember each map inside out, because I played that much. Thousands of hours.

So you know what? For today, green's my new black.
