It was awesome but it made me /facepalm too. I would go to build the RT, he would follow. I would go to cover while he builds the RT, he would follow. Just watching me to see what I was doing, not even looking for aliens. I almost died laughing..
this game really needs a tutorial or something, I don't even think he realized that you could/were supposed to build stuff as a marine.

D'awww, that is awesome. :P Imagine there's a game that's so complex you feel inclined to learn the ropes from watching others? Yeah, I consider that a wonder, seeing how most games consist of training-wheels press-this-to-win content.
I will be doing my best to put together a collection of videos that really cover the basics of this game. Maybe more advanced mechanics in time.
I'm going to be working with a fellow team member on the video editing as well as trying to work with some other streamers besides myself. In about 2 weeks I plan on having pretty frequent LIVE streams on with helpful commentary on playing. Similar to NS2HD but always live and hopefully just as helpful or more so.
If you're also a believer in getting the player base educated about the game, join here: http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/in...howtopic=119454

I really do my best to advise new players and will spend time talking to them for most of the game. Will always go commander when no one wants to and will direct people constantly with a mic.
BUT
Me and my mate generally team stack because we want to kill a certain (expletive inserted) person who is either abusing people or generally being a real pain in the arse. It's usually people who get angry when playing. Why people get so angry when playing a game is beyond me, but we go out of our way to kill them to try and make them angier XD. They are people who, dont listen, blame other's, dont team work, have a severe ego, have a go at new people, or have a go at expericened player's when they have a valid point.
Sorry but these people deserve it. But I also enjoy vsing my friends as it give's who ever killed the other bragging rights to mock.
Lets not forget the other side of things - everybody will play in a stacked team every now an then...
What about the rookies/new players in those stacked sides?(usually its maybe 2-4ppl stacking) Guess they also have fun, and maybe see a side of ns2 (gameplay, tactics, whatever) they might not have expirienced yet...?
these are what destroyed our old NS1 community. Team stacking destroyed our casual player base, Elitests chased away new players, and combat was the final nail in the coffin.

I think combat was a good thing for the casual players at least (super easy to understand and get into, and not very time-consuming), dont mix up ######s with elitists, and team stacking is currently the most favourite way to explain why somebody lost or failed.
One of the most important things in ns2 is the commander, especially in pub games. You can have ~2-3 crazy good players and still lose easily if the comm screws up the early game, or one team takes a few minutes more to fill up at the start of a match. Trying to blame ppl for playing together with friends or ppl they know(some in this thread call it stacking) is the wrong way to solve anything.
You need to get players to understand the game better, and maybe make some other options. (like something to help with having ppl that want to command on each side, or ppl automatically randomly joining up before the game starts/or kick if afk, if they didnt pick a side or tried to all get into one team[so there is a proper start for both sides], more servers[some but not all with randomteams or votebalance commands, so you got choice], more players, maybe matchmaking[but with squad/party joining] and skill brackets whatever... )
PS: there are a lot of nice ppl that try to even out things very often, and a few comments in this thread so far wont improve the situation - if this gets into some kind of witchhunt i could see even increased numbers of stackers in matches.

Much appreciated in advance.
