Medieval map

<div class="IPBDescription">just a try out</div>Hey guys,

i'm working on a new map about medieval style.
For the moment this is just a draft but i hope i will have inspiration and level to accomplish this.
The main problems are textures and models which are not compatible with the age.

- About story:

Aliens invade an unevolved planet (too easy ^^) which is very religious, so marines came with a spaceship in the castle/church where the aliens's queen is...

    Wow! That is pretty cool, I am so tired of all the dirty industrialized style maps that are made. This is very fresh and looks great. Nice start.

    wooden custom model skins? most pointless, elaborate, and awesome idea for an NS2 map ever?

    Like i said marines came with a space ship so i think they can deploy some portable power node...

    Nice concept, but I think you could still create the same medieval style spaces using the futuristic textures - Think of it as a futuristic world which has medieval style architecture. At the end of the day, to the serious players, it doesn't matter where or when the map is set in, the spaces and layout matter the most.

    Right now, you basically have a room with one light source and some columns - you have to ask yourself if that would make for exciting gameplay. Forget about texture and lighting for now and focus on the potential of the space itself.

    I also could imagine some sort of outpost on a planet that could have a future-church. It would still have a lot of the mideival architecture and churchy-feel, but the rest of the level would be more like the levels we are used to.

    I think you should do what zombiemonkey suggested and make it look like a sci-fi style church, and like Psyke said, make the rest of the map more conventional so it's like a space station's chapel.

    Personally I like maps that complement the game developer's vision. Sure you can get popular maps like that ns1 map with an egyptian theme, but visually it never looks good or suits the character models.

More power to you OP, as a few maps like this are a welcome change when I feel like playing an unusual map sometimes. Like that Stargate map or the siege maps back in NS1, while not balanced I have a great time just from the change of the usual dynamics you get very used to in a standard map.<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->

    Hi, I really like the style and difference from other ns2 maps out there. Even in SciFi or future there can be "oldschool" styles like this. Just think of P'Jem of Star Trek or the Vulcan Culture as whole. I'd really love to see the complete map one day. I am working on different styles myself (nothing to show yet) but it's couraging that others experiment too.

    I can only agree to my previous posters. The map looks great and I really like your style!
    Hopefully the devs will add more and more variety to the editor.

    This one's a goner. Bummer, it would be easy to re-use all of those textures. If we had the level & resources I bet you could quickly make a combat map out of it.
