That right there is everything that is wrong about walljumping summed up in one video.
Does anybody actually think that fighting flying skulks all game makes for good gameplay? This is why leap was changed back to a hive2 ability, remember?
Add to that, that the HL1-engine ran a lot tighter, smoother and faster than NS2 does now, does not bode well for fighting flying dogs all game long.
So how exactly is this more immersive\intuitive\whatever-other-word-has-been-bandied-around-to-promote-wallhopping, than say, quake-style bunnyhopping?

But doesn't it feel dumb to you, to have to whip the skulks view around like that?
It looks so weird in the video, like why does whipping it's neck around give a huge speed boost.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
The fast neck whipping doesn't give you a speed boost directly. It's used to jump to the right direction. If you look up when jumping your jump will be much farther, because you will make a bigger curve in the air. The speed boost comes from the angle you dive into the wall. If you "dive down" into the wall it will make you faster than hitting it at 90 degrees.
At some point he is so fast that he doesn't need to look up anymore, because the amount of speed you gain from simple wall jumping is higher than the continuous loss of speed.

Being able to jump like that in an open area is a pretty pointless skill to have. Better to actually be able to ride a line around the map and continuously pick up speed. Not saying I'm better than anyone, though.

Got a bit busy; here's just a round of pub play I managed to record fully without any game hitches. Late joined by a couple minutes; I'm a huge bullet magnet :D

Oh hey, I'm in this video! I remember that game.
I would post fade/skulk/comm videos, but I don't think my computer could handle it while playing at the same time.

Not a pointless skill :) It will help you master travel around the map :)
