Small annoyances - Alien Comm

Some of the issues are specific to server quality (KcK I'm looking at you).

-Sometimes when I'm trying to place something it will switch me back to selecting a building, and give me the "set rally" menus, instead of the menu I was on
-When cancelling a building I was going to place, right click cancels AND sets rally point, this is really annoying
-Hive energy is not easily displayed on the UI
-Building stats are barely legible, they're so small (hitpoints/maturity)

From a non-bug state, mist going back to single target (so it appears?) is really kind of a step back. :(

It makes gorges important as heal sprayers.

As aliens you start with enough resources to drop a second hive and still get augment and carapace on time. With a gorge, second hive can be up by 2 minutes 30 seconds easily.

I hesitate to see aliens get any more advantage until marines are given something becauuse right now this game is playable for the first 10 minutes of each round, then if marines have not won the aliens dominate unless they are complete tools.

The bug where it switches back to the main hive when trying to do random things with the toolbar is the most annoying thing EVER.

I'm more talking about mist used for maturation or egg development, not speeding up a hive. I see the advantage of a gorge there, but a gorge (so it seems) cannot help mature a hive and grow an egg faster at the same time.

I miss AOE mist as well, when the maturation times were longer. Now that structures mature so fast, it's not really needed. But it was fun in 207 to make little gardens of crags and whips and mist them all at once - made me think of the water spray in a greenhouse :)

Having the whips take so long to mature made it a real accomplishment.

I think it would be nice to find a way to make aoe mist work, it simplifies the job of a commander and makes it more atmospheric. a single target now seems meh.

Thanks for those points BloodyIron - usability and responsiveness are very important to us with both marine and alien UIs. We intend to do a big pass on both UIs in July. We've spent a lot of time with the StarCraft II UI in particular, trying to bed down the factors that make a UI feel damn good.

I'll try harder to contribute more :) Sometimes I worry someone has already reported a bug I want to post about...

you guys just need to make the ui alot more responsive to very fast and rapid input. Reliability is the main issue and has been for a long time.
    - A player should never have to click a selection button more than once to select a specific unit/building.
    - Drag select needs to actually select reliably. e.g. drag selecting drifters, shows drifters selected in ui, but game internally is still selecting hive so you end up setting hive waypoint instead of moving drifters.

ofcourse hope we eventually see some staple RTS functionality before 1.0 though.
    - shift waypointing.
    - double click select
    - selection priority filtering for alien commander drag select should be drifter> all other buildings > cyst > alien players

In terms of the UI, it also doesn't scale properly for 720p (1280x720). When I am in game as a comm, alerts overlap the right side (alien) of the scoreboard all the time. Also when I am clicking on the menus as comm it sometimes selects the alerts that end up behind the menus. Really obnoxious.

Furthermore sometimes my camera just randomly shifts somewhere for no apparant reason.
