NS2 will be in sale before the release ?

ddzevddzev Join Date: 2010-12-22 Member: 75872Members
Hi guys,
Many of my friends would like to buy the game but they say it is too expensive. I really praised the game, but it's always "no".
This is my last chance to convince them to buy the game.
I know it's ridiculous to ask it and I hope you forgive me.

Thank you in advance.

PS: I wait the exos with great impatience :D

On sale before release? Maybe after...

Considering most games today cost 60 dollars and NS2 currently only cost 35, Id say its on sale right now lol

and based on the fact they increased the prices when they halted selling the limited edition, chances are they will increase again when full retail rolls around.

I may be ignorant, but I will feel pissed upon, when they release the final game for 35 bucks on Steam...

But NS2 should never be sold for 50+ bucks. 60 bucks? Nah. People would never buy it. BF3 and MW3 have a mindless singleplayer campaign to justify these high prices.

Wait, you feel that 35 dollars is a bad price?

I mean while you are correct it should not be sold for 60 dollars as its an indy game, i HIGHLY doubt the price will go down.

They were offering a 2 for 1 deal sometime last year. (Christmas? can't remember) You missed your shot, sorry. IIRC, it was also cheaper earlier in development. You should be expecting a company to charge more as their game nears completion.

That being said, $35 for a FPS of this caliber? That's a steal!

$35 is cheap compared to most new games you buy. Cheaper than 6 months of WoW, you get to play this game forever...
  • ddzevddzev Join Date: 2010-12-22 Member: 75872Members
I'm totally agree, i have no regret to pay 35$ for this game. Maybe an offer like Christmas that will good...
  • ZenoZeno Join Date: 2007-09-05 Member: 62183Members
35$...honestly is it THAT expensive? 35 is a very small number for a multiplayer game where you can have hundreds and thousands hours play time. Your usual singleplayer so-called aaa-title has 8 hours for 50.
Also its dollars...the price is even more ridiculous if you translate it to euros. 26,7€ is like...less than 2 cinema tickets or 2 oktoberfest beers.
Maybe you should remind your friends of that.

That aside, games usually cost less when you preorder them. Expect the final price to be higher. And brand new games shouldn't be sold off at sales immediately after release so I wouldn't expect a sale before a major valve sale after release.
    Maybe this christmas
    ...?

I paid 60 for L4d2, that game didn't have a SP either, its versus mode was still very basic and it only featured 4 campaigns with 4 relatively small maps each. So really, I'd say 60 IS a bargain indeed.

i paid 40 and would have even if it didn't come with the black armor. honestly, 40$ is a steal for a game of this caliber (esp. once the performance issues are gone). hell, this whole beta process has been worth more than the 40 bucks, i'm sitting at 501 hours of gameplay. when's the last time you bought a game that gave you that much?

^ like he said. $35 is more than worth it, because it's hella fun game lol. And this game isn't even done yet. There's still more to come. I have 198 hrs, my highest is 971, but I played it for about a year and a half. I think it can pass up that hrs.

sigh, people really are cheapskates these days aren't they. Mind you, I would prefer if ns2 went down by $5 to $30. But I'm not complaining, $35 is fair.
  • ellnicellnic Join Date: 2010-07-19 Member: 72559Members, Reinforced - Shadow
If i am not mistaken, but is'nt already for sale, and it hasnt been released. Atleast i bought but but am not sure about you's?

130 hours in NS2... And I did take advantage of the 2 for 1 deal.

Definitely got my value thus far out of the game. =]

But yes, I can see why you might think it is a bit expensive at $35... but you may just want to wait for a steam sale post release if $35 is to steep for you.
  • TrCTrC Join Date: 2008-11-30 Member: 65612Members
Majority of players do not or even cannot play the game 35$ is huge amount not that it should be lowered.

Coming back in a year or so even if the price goes up is the better choice.

35$ really isn't that much for a game like this.
I've allready played NS2 for 122 hours. 60% of this playtime is from back in the days when only summit was available.
With a plethora of maps this game will be amazing! x)

i also hope it gets more expensive when it hits the ground!

Don't forget the mod tools it comes with, along with all the custom maps, and added stuff post release. And the mods.

By starting at a mid-range $35 now (and for the release), UW benefits multiple ways:
    1. Benefits more from the early adopters (who would pay at almost any price).
    2. Allows "promotion" of the game with special deals and discounts later on.
    3. People value commodities at what they (and most others) paid for it. As oddly as it sounds, a price too low for NS2 would turn some people off to it.

Im assuming it will cost more on steam because they have to pay them royalties for every sale.

All they need to do is have a couple of "Free Weekends" and this game is going to absolutely explode in popularity.

is there some way to tell how long you have played the game? where is everyone getting xxxhours from?
  • AlchemyAlchemy Join Date: 2005-02-08 Member: 40330Members
Steam tells you hours on the Library screen when you click on a game. Next to the Play button.

Also $35 is cheap. Just think about it being already discounted from $80 (would still pay this) down to $35 already just for you and early access thrown in!
  • blinblin Join Date: 2011-07-20 Member: 111290Members
I heard the royalty for steam is up to 30%!

so if UWE wants to make a buck (indeed they already spent a buck!), they need to sell it like for 50 USD at least (on steam).
