Eating Corpses

Perhaps in bad taste, but thought might be interesting to allow skulks (and perhaps onos), to eat marines after the fight is over. Sometimes you can be far from the hive, and while you do have a moment to wait, you don't have long enough to wait for regeneration. Of course would require corpses not to disappear instantly.

Plus would be quite horrifying for marines to wander around and fine a group of skulks chewing on a mate.

On a similar vein, perhaps infestations could absorb these corpses to heal nerby alien structures - or give the nearest hive some energy.

Thoughts?

Completely ignoring balance and whatnot it seems like a fun idea. There might be some technical limitations as far as how long bodies can be kept around.

How about the marines eat the skulks. BBQ anyone?

I remember planned Feed upgrade for the Skulk way back when, which does exactly this. I hope to see lifeform specific upgrades return ^^

It seems like Regen offers the same health restoration capacity for the skulk as Feed, while also allowing you to remain mobile. Why would you pick Feed over Regen?

Well I wasn't originally thinking of this as being an upgrade. I originally thought skulks could just hit E at a corpse, enter a short animation which restores health to full.

This would kill the ESRB rating. Not worth it imo.

If it's implemented as a non-upgrade, it will significantly overpower Skulks early-game and make their rushes much stronger, not to mention devaluing Regen for skulks.

If it is an upgrade, it won't be worth it, since during the animation you're vulnerable to anybody who might come around the corner and paste you over the wall.

This is, sort of, how frenzy currently works (though its just health for kills rather than corpsefeasting). I think the main issue is performance, since having a bunch of ragdolls in a small area can really tank the server.

NSo ruled this out because flayra was strictly aiming for pg13. As far as I know mapping guidelines still prohibit scare'n'gore, so yeah.
The basic idea is cool, but more geared towards gorges dragging corpses to restowers/hives/whatever for teamres and oni munching corpses to restore health (when they are worth it at all, this time).

I remember reading somewhere that UWE was aiming for a rating of Mature for NS2 (which is notably different than was the case for NS1).

So basically unless aliens start ###### the corpses to lay eggs, should be fine.

We already have Frenzy, which is a whip upgrade that allows us to heal after a kill, creating animations for aliens eating would be horrible for rating, time, and as aliens do you really want to spend a few seconds eating or killing? as opposed to instant heal after a kill...

Frenzy is getting removed soon. Possibly fades will be balanced then.

ESRB is an outdated rating system anyways and you have to pay stupidly huge amounts of money to get said rating.

That's seems a bit overkill... and personally I think it's shadowstep and blink that is the op part... swipe, shadowstep, swipe, shadowstep... hard to follow. Creating a visual smear in the direction that fades are blinking... THAT would help a lot...

Though it's probably best it be removed. I can't think of a good way to balance frenzy...

Add the received health over time (maybe 30sec?) instead of instant. It should be faster as regeneration. But maybe this is still to redundant with regen. So maybe add energy instead of health per kill?

This would be quite nice. Still a boost to fade, can kill and blink out from the boost.

If eating corpses is to gory for the devs, how about eating weapons? So, you eat the dropped rifle and the alien nanites (or whatever) convert it to health.
