<div class="IPBDescription">The launch of ns2hd.com</div>G'day everyone!
The Big-Unannounced-Event is here! Alex and I (Hugh) are off to San Francisco to spend a week with Unknown Worlds Entertainment. I'm typing this post out at Sydney International Airport, waiting for our United 747.
Check out our new website <a href="http://www.ns2hd.com" target="_blank">here</a>. You can also see the announcement video on youtube <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAj86cRqQ5Y" target="_blank">here</a>.
We're going to bring you closer to UWE than you've ever gotten before. We're going to zoom right in on Brian's chops, and Brian's beard. We're fans like you, and this is all about answering your questions, and showing you inside the studio developing the game we love.
You can contact us @NS2HD on twitter, at contact@ns2hd.com, here on the forums, and in the comments section on our new website. We'll have a reliable internet connection in about 36 hours.
Here we go!

Hopefully we get some exclusive reveals. :D
I'd definitely appreciate a move towards more serious content. Less ping pong and more actual substance.
Great stuff Hugh! :D Looking forward to all the videos and the new site!
Oh, don't forget to interview Dushan. Do get us in-depth detail about his unhealthy amount of pleasure from programming!
Onos
Jet pack
Exo suit
More of the new maps
good luck with that!
Some hopefully constructive criticism of the video.
Work on the transitions. Cutting from one scene standing in a poorly lit room to another in an airport looks bad. It was all about travelling so you should have been moving in the video, put the camera on a luggage trolley or something. Don't just put it on a tripod and talk - that's lecturing. Don't read a script. You can write one but do not read from it.
Sound needs some work too. The voice overs should match the camera recorded audio, match in the way you speak and the sound quality.
Try to involve more people in the videos. Go up to random people (preferably people who resemble your audience) and get their thoughts on the game. Millions of people will have heard of Natural Selection so you may strike lucky and find a fan.
Don't go too far off on a tangent. Keep it focused on the game without losing your own character.
Always show footage of the game (where it will work).
...I used to live like 2 hours south of them. But then I moved to Colorado (Not by choice mind you) so now I'm as far away as possible from EVERYTHING on either coast.
Oh, and cool video. I'll be watching the rest.
Generic free Commercial use music t'be, he's got YouTube watching him as a hawk you know :P
Good stuff Hugh and Alex! This is going to be <i>Huge</i> and... <i>Al</i>l <i>ex</i>ceptional! <img src="http://members.home.nl/m.borgman/ns-forum/smileys/youreallwrong.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />
NS is not CoD. I could ask anyone on the street their thoughts on CoD... people will think I am a crazy when I talk about this "NS".
I said approach people who might be gamers. Millions of gamers will have heard the name Natural Selection.
Would be fun too going up to an 80 year old and getting their thoughts on the alien models, ask them what they think the gorge does and such. If you have a camera and are making a show about the game nobody will think you're crazy.
TBH if someone random started to talk to me about CoD and they weren't 12 I'd think they're weird!
I am curious though on as to how you'll be using your website.. will you be using it for anything specific or just to show updates on your videos or something... Or will you be doing a lot more with it?
Anywho's safe flight!
No, I'm not working for Unknown Worlds, we are here as fans and we've paid our way ourselves. We're here to produce fantastic NS2 material for you to enjoy :) Some of it will be professional, some of it will be fun. For example, the video I just put up of Alex poking me on the plane is just a bit of fun. Tomorrow we head into the UWE office and you can look forward to some great stuff soon.
Think of my last visit as a practice run. This time, it's the real deal!
That answered my question quite nicely :)
You may have A bridge, but you don't have THE (golden gate) bridge :)
Also, congrats on the website and good luck with UWE filming!
Looking forward to your video updates and to more stuff/features on your new website!
I just hope you won't wash up on shore again with Cory poking you both with a stick! Or maybe I do >insert evil grin here<
You're sure you're in SanFran this time around? I mean you're in serious jet lag territory, imagine you're just seeing what you want to see and are actually somewhere else *DUN DUN DUUUUN*
The development of NS2 cannot be defined by the state of the game on any given day. Not because the lights in the office are still on in the wee hours of the morning and well into the night, which they are. Not because the game evolves and grows at a breakneck pace, which it does. Not because the challenge is great, which it is. But because it is defined by its people.
Watching this crew work, it becomes obvious that you are not just watching a bunch of blokes clocking in, doing their job, and clocking off. You are watching a tight knit devoted team live and breathe the world they are creating. You are watching the game itself.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Brought a tear to my eye :)
Off to watch the new vids on youtube!

Be sure to check my twitter feed occasionally, as I am posting non-video updates on the blog as well as my more usual videos!
Rough. They strap their backpacks around them and go on over to Union Square park where they enjoy warm evenings on the bench.
Cory has this box from the PT's paper-mâché gorge... No need to worry <img src="http://members.home.nl/m.borgman/ns-forum/smileys/youreallwrong.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />
