Quick Switching

Not really a idea of suggestion since it will eventually be implemented but, just would like a simple command to bind 'q' for instance to quick switch between my current and last weapon. Please put in build 188 :D

But how will you taunt now? Taunting is far more effective than quick switching. I taunted at least 4 skulks to death last night.

Yes, I too hope this is implemented soon.

I think they are too busy adding other features to the game. Hopefully someone in the community will code this and save the Devs the trouble. (Personally I would rather bind quick switch to a mouse button).

I do quickswitch with the mousewheel aslong as it is not included.

Anyway, I want it too, I tried looking into the LUA code to see what I could do but there were too many files and I'd rather play NS2 than code when I'm home. :P
If anyone is more courageous than me on this one, I'll be forever grateful.

I believe this is on the to-do list for a future build. Hopefully it can be bumped up in priority as it isn't a heavily time consuming task.

There are only 4 weapons, implying 4 buttons. With lastinv you need an extra button and you need to remember what weapon you used last. That just seems like a hindrance.

I have never had a problem with remembering what weapon I used last. The fact that this topic is repeatedly brought up by different people in multiple different threads means many other people think it is useful as well.

I dunno about you lot, but it seems I already have 4 quick switches. What you lot want is a last inventory button :P

Yeah lastinv is pretty useful, for pulling out your pistol. Or switching from spikes to gas when you are desperately trying to get away, so you can cover yourself with smoke.
There is alot of situations where it is very useful. Since hitting some of the numbers while moving forward can be pretty hard to do in stressful situations.

<!--coloro:#aadd00--><span style="color:#aadd00"><!--/coloro--> Yeah I want this function back badly, I still hit Q in the heat of things without realizing on occasion. I'm surprised there isn't a mod putting this in as of yet. Are we missing a necessary function to facilitate this yet or has nobody wanted to try? <!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->

can we do binds and aliases in NS2 like back in quake days?

was pretty sure you could setup aliases and binds to 'create' your own quick switch button

infact thats how it was first made before games started offering it officially
