One more question
How can I prevent marine to pick up any better weapon on the ground. It getting **obscenity** off. When I am shooting some aliens at base then accidentally I pick-up shotgun or hmg.
There are no option like that in customize menu. :|

If you dont want your teammates to pick up weapons..dont drop them
i personally would be glad to suddenly have a HMG appear in my hand as i was blasting aliens....and id thank the commander too...

You should be glad that your commander is helping you out.
If you think the LMG and pistol can handle the aliens, you're mistaken. You should experiment with all the different weapons and see which ones are better at certain situations. You'll be a better player when you're versatile.
You can either avoid it, or press the "drop" key to drop it. Just be sure that there's still a gun left on the ground for you to pick up before you drop your current one.
Weapons dropped by marines only stay down for 30 seconds or so. I only drop when I accidently pick up a weapon that someone else was begging for.
counter-strike/or hl has a variable cl_autowepswitch "0"
might try that, i don't know if it will work with ns. i'll give it a try later on ns and see if it works.
There should be an option to turn it off.
1) If you WANT to use a shotgun, but it picks up HMG
-- yes it happends
2) If you pick up another gun ( accident ) and then you want your other gun back, both guns will only have 1 clip
IE: you have a LMG with Max ammo.. and you have a lot of enemies attacking you.. you WANT the ammo. you walk over a HMG with 1 clip.. you lose a bunch of that ammo
(If you drop a gun it automatically only has 1 clip i believe.. so if you drop it.. you are SCREWED)
Look where you are going to walk!
Should be in your config file somewhere.

Most people aren't really worried about looking at the ground, but rather looking at the blue circles and spraying for thier lives, usually I look around if there's some backup with me
here's how it should work
You have a gun in your hand
another gun is on the ground
you walk over it, and nothing happends; you keep your gun
if you have no gun, and walk over one
it picks up the one under you
so instead of having a "throw, get" key
you only have a throw key, and your gun won't get replaced if you already have one
is it really such a big deal? the advantages really do overrun the disadvantages that you all have mentioned.
i mean, if you disabled the option to autopick up, you would have to bend over and press a key to pick a better one up, yes?
i personally wouldnt want to do that when im under attack...
it only happened to me once...dam shotgun appeared in me hand when i was shooting skulks...and you know how slow they fire....
Before posting an answer on forum think what you are typing.
The new weapon could come from a number of different places - already on the ground, commander dropped, or a teammate dying on top of you and dropping his weapon into your lap. Only one of those situations you can control whether or not you pick up the weapon, and in _any_ situation you don't know how much ammo the gun has. Now you get to fumble with the safety and **obscenity** the damn thing, all the while hoping that alien you were fighting hasn't torn you a new one yet.
Also - the welder triggers autoweapon switch just like a shotgun or HMG. How would you like to be fending off an alien only to have your drawn weapon turn into a welder?
Elric already provided us with a solution: _cl_autowepswitch "0" But that's only for secondary weapons if you've got your LMG drawn. The obvious solution would be to go the CS-route where you have to manually drop your primary weapon in order to pick up another primary weapon. That way there's no more tripping over discards.
First post here so be gentile. Personally I too would prefer not to have a weapon autopickup unless it is my choice. As has been stated earlier, unlike CS you lose all the ammo that was assigned to your weapon that gets dropped, and in a fight this can kill you. I also do not see why a 30 second time limit is set for weapons dropped.
Is it to offset the aliens death when all hives die, or is there another purpose for that? I'd like to see the time raised to at least 60 seconds, but thats just my own personal want.
NS is by far the most inovative mod to come along for HL (IMHO), I'd love it if it got picked up for retail and perhaps became a choice for a HL2 mod. Keep up the good work guys, I can't wait for the next rev.
